VISUAL ARTS INSTRUCTION

In the Visual Arts Department, ALL are welcome, beginners through advanced. Achieve your artistic goals, strengthen your skills, and give your creativity wings.

A perfect start to art with Early Childhood Classes

The Art Department is a wonderful place to develop creativity, coordination, cognitive, and multi-sensory skills. A variety of class options are available for children ranging from 2-6 years old. Students create in an engaging, encouraging, and age-appropriate way. Due to classes using many different art supplies, we suggest enrollment in visual art classes for those children who no longer explore by putting items in their mouth.

Ceramics

The Visual Arts Department proudly features an extensive variety of classes that focus on working with clay for ages 3 and up. Adult Ceramics and Clay Studio (Adult) have an additional clay fee of $15 per bag. Clay can be purchased at Customer Experience. Combination Drawing & Painting for Children and Teens

Creative Painting and Drawing and Art Club

Similarities:

All offer a large variety of painting and drawing media. All can be taken repeatedly by the same student; artists will learn new material and strengthen skills each session.

Differences:

Art Club additionally has elements of three-dimensional crafting such as air-dry clay, decoupage, or sculptural creations. Classes are numbered based on age not skill.

Adult Painting Classes

Enjoy our warm, welcoming studio environment and grow those skills! Students bring their own supplies.

Bring the following to each class:

• A photo or image you are interested in using as inspiration for your painting.

• An 11x14 canvas.

• The following acrylic paint colors: cerulean blue, white, ultramarine blue, violet, burnt sienna, sap green, viridian, red, paynes gray, any color orange, any dark yellow.

• An assortment of paintbrushes: 1/2" flat, 1" flat, 1/2" filbert, a fine brush for details, 1/4" flat, #6 round (make sure they say "for acrylic paint" in the description). If you have additional paintbrushes, feel free to bring them.

• Knead-able eraser

• Something to use as a palette.

• A tool box to keep your supplies in.
