STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to last week: Slaughter lambs were unevenly steady and feeder Lambs were steady on a light test.

Slaughter ewes and slaughter bucks were steady. In goats, slaughter kids were steady , while slaughter nannies/does were steady and billies and wethers were steady. Trade activity and buyer demand were moderate to good. The sheep supply consisted of approximately 39 percent slaughter lambs, 13 percent feeder lambs, with the balance being slaughter ewes and bucks. The goat supply consisted of approximately 70 percent slaughter kids, 25 percent slaughter nannies/does with the balance being slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

USDA-CO Dept of Ag Market News • Sterling Livestock Commission Company - Sterling, CO • Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for Wednesday, December 19, 2018 Compared to last sale: Demand and trade activity moderate to good. Feeder cattle were too thinly tested to trend. The last comparable bred cows traded over a month ago, though prices were firm today. Slaughter cows traded 1.00 to 4.00 higher. Today’s supply consisted mostly of bred cattle ranging from heifers to aged cattle with the majority being bred between 5 to 7 months.

In feeder cattle, the run consisted of 34 percent steers, 66 percent heifers. Approximately 69 percent of the run weighed over 600 pounds. The total run consisted of 10 percent feeder cattle, 61 percent replacement cattle and 29 percent slaughter cows and bulls. The next available report will be the first Stock Show Special, Saturday, January 5, 2019.

Stocker heifers sold 500 weights 151.00 to 141.00; 600 weights 141.00 to 135.00 with a lite offering. Feeder steers sold 700 weights 148.00 to 138.50 with a lite offering.
