USDA-CO Dept of Ag Market News • Sterling Livestock Commission Company - Sterling, CO • Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for Saturday, January 6, 2018 ***Stock Show Special*** Today marks the first sale of the New Year and the first of three stock show specials. The most recent comparable cattle were traded in early December, therefore there is not trend available, though a firm undertone throughout the entire sale was noted. Today’s supply consisted mostly of home raised, pre-conditioned calves with multiple vaccination programs and long wean periods. Trade activity and buyer demand was moderate to good. The run was comprised of 100 percent feeder cattle of which approximately 59 percent were steers and 41 percent were heifers with approximately 75 percent of the run weighing over 600 lbs. The next available report for this market will be on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.
