Leading Way the
Every Friday, I write a note to our staff addressed to (The) Family (Place) because the people here truly are a family. Many of us, survivors ourselves, look to one another for love and support as we take on the difficult work of helping survivors escape abuse and start new lives. Our board of directors is a part of this family as well. They are fully engaged, working to ensure The Family Place’s strength and stability. Our chairman Harold Ginsburg and I have both served The Family Place for the last decade, as the agency has grown into the largest family violence service provider in the state. Looking to the future, we have a mantra—to be not only the biggest, with nearly 200 employees, but also the best.
Our number-one goal is for The Family Place to be the premier provider of domestic violence services in the nation and a training ground for domestic violence professionals. We have a truly dedicated, talented team that I am fully confident will help us reach this goal. As an agency, we will continue to define our values, our brand, and our strategic plan to get there. All of our teams are contributing to this principal goal—Development raising funds, Marketing promoting the agency, Finance ensuring we are a faithful steward of funds, Operations keeping our 170,000 square feet of facilities safe and clean, People Services supporting our talented employees, and Programs providing lifesaving and life-changing direct services 24 hours a day, seven days a week to more than 40,000 individuals a year.
Another key goal for 2024 is to foster a culture of accountability, where every employee feels heard and connected to our mission. That accountability extends to our volunteers and partners, with our promise to use the dollars we are entrusted with wisely.
Reaching these goals requires each of us to show up every day with a heart for the mission and a passion for this work. I am so proud of the strong, creative, and resilient people at The Family Place who are helping survivors find a path from fear and hopelessness to safety and success. I’m also grateful for the generous donors and volunteers who support The Family Place. You are vital to our future. OUR MISSION
1 in 3 Texans will experience domestic violence—one of the highest rates in the country. The Family Place is the largest family violence service provider in Texas, empowering survivors of family violence with safe housing, counseling, and skills that create independence, while building community engagement and advocating for social change to stop family violence.
In 2023, we provided services to 44,024 unduplicated individuals, including 60,955 emergency shelter days, 20,805 transitional housing days, 15,157 counseling hours, and 6,144 hours of court-ordered group sessions for batterers.

We provide survivors with safety, food, clothing, transportation, legal services, counseling, and case management at three shelters: Sally’s House, 107 beds; Ann Moody Place, 47 beds; and our Men’s Shelter, 13 beds.

FAITH & LIBERTY’S PLACE FAMILY CENTER
Provides a safe, child-centered environment where trained professionals facilitate court-ordered, supervised child visitation and monitored exchanges with noncustodial parents.

LEGAL SERVICES
In partnership with Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, we assist with protective orders, custody matters, and divorces. We served 109 clients.
SPEAKER’S BUREAU
87 engagements where staff were visible in the community and publicly advocated for domestic violence awareness.
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
804 volunteers worked 1,429 hours, positively impacting our programs and fundraising efforts to help us meet the demand for services.
