10 TIPS FOR FIREARMS SAFETY IN YOUR HOME
Always keep the firearm’s muzzle pointed in a safe direction. A “safe direction” means that the gun is pointed so that even if an accidental discharge occurred, it would not result in injury.
Always keep your finger off the trigger until you actually intend to shoot. When handling a gun, rest your finger outside the trigger guard or along the side of the gun. Don’t touch the trigger until you are actually ready to fire.
Firearms should be unloaded when not actually in use. Whenever you pick up a gun, such as when removing it from or returning it to storage, remember to point it in a safe direction and make sure it is unloaded.
Be sure you know how your firearm operates: read the manual on your firearm, know how to safely open and close the action of the firearm and know how to safely remove any ammunition from the firearm and its magazine.
Store your firearms in a locked cabinet, safe, gun vault or storage case when not in use, ensuring they are in a location inaccessible by children and cannot be handled by anyone without your permission.
Store your ammunition in a locked location separate from firearms.
Use a gun locking device that renders the firearm inoperable when not in use. A gun lock should be used as an additional safety precaution and not as a substitute for secure storage.
Make sure young people in your home are aware of and understand the safety guidelines concerning firearms. Have them sign the Project ChildSafe Pledge for young people a reminder that if they find an unattended firearm in their home or a neighbor’s to not touch it, and tell an adult.
Always unload, clean and place your firearms in their secure storage location immediately after returning from a hunting trip or a day at the range.
Educate everyone in your family about firearms safety. Visit the Project ChildSafe website for safety information and to find out where to get a free firearm safety kit in your area.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation, a leading organization promoting firearms safety and responsibility in the U.S., launched Project ChildSafe in 1998 (prior to 2003 the program was called Project HomeSafe). Project ChildSafe is a nationwide initiative to promote firearms responsibility and provide safety education to all gun owners. While children are a focus, Project ChildSafe is intended to help young people and adults practice greater firearms safety in the home. The program has provided more than 38 million free firearm safety kits to gun owners in all 50 states and five U.S. territories.
Firearms owners can find tools, tips and information about safe and responsible firearms storage at projectchildsafe.org.

Signs of Parenting Stress.
Parenting can be one of life’s most rewarding endeavors, but it comes with challenges. Here are signs of parenting stress.
Continual Fatigue: Beyond the typical exhaustion associated with parenting, you might feel constantly drained or overwhelmed, struggling to keep up with daily responsibilities.
Increased Irritability & Impatience: You may find yourself reacting disproportionately to minor behaviors from your children that you would usually ignore.
Social Withdrawal: If you increasingly avoid interactions with friends or family and neglect interests that usually bring you joy, it could be a sign of significant stress.
Feelings of Depression or Anxiety: Experiencing frequent episodes of hopelessness or intense worry are critical indicators of chronic parenting stress. These feelings warrant attention and care.
Recognition and Acceptance: Identifying these symptoms is not a reflection of inadequacy but an acknowledgment of the genuine challenges of caregiving.
Prioritizing self-care is essential in managing parenting stress. Self-care is not only significant but necessary for parents. Doing so enables you to recharge physically, emotionally, and mentally.
Take Out Time for Yourself: Do something just for yourself.
Turn Towards Healthy Nutrition: A nutritious diet fuels not only your body but also your mind.
Stay Physically Active: Reduce anxiety levels because when you engage in physical exertion, endorphins (the feel-good hormones) get released.
Stay Hydrated: Water maintains a balance of body fluids that aid in digestion, absorption, circulation & the regulation of body temperature. Maintain Sound Sleep: An adequate amount of sleep every night helps to refresh your mind and prepare you for the chaos of the next day.
Build a Support System: Surround yourself with people who understand and can help ease your responsibilities when times get challenging
Try to recognize the signs that you need a break and take steps to stop stress before it builds up – a short walk, a cup of tea or a breathing exercise can really make a difference.
Benefits of Parent Volunteers:
Parent-volunteers are individuals who offer their time and services to supervise and assist in activities involving children in a school, community, or sports setting. They provide support to teachers or coaches, or assisting with administrative tasks such as organizing events or fundraisers.
Improved academics across all grade levels: Research has shown that students perform better academically when their parents are involved in their education.
Positive attitudes toward school: Parent volunteers can help create a positive and supportive environment in the classroom, making students feel more comfortable and excited about learning.
Higher attendance rates: When parents are involved in their children’s education, students are more likely to attend school regularly.
Increased student motivation:
Parent volunteers provide extra
support and encouragement to motivate students to work harder and achieve their goals.
Achieve higher reading levels: Parent volunteers can assist in reading programs and help struggling readers, resulting in higher reading levels for students.
Develop strong social skills between peers and adults: Parent volunteers can act as positive role models, demonstrating appropriate social behavior and fostering positive relationships between students and adults.
