Thistravelinglibraryisareactiontothestruggleofappreciatingbooksincreatives establishments.Itintendstocontributeadifferentperspectiveofviewingartist’sbooks and zines by collaborating with the exhibition modality, Parcel Exhibitions, where artworkscanbeexperiencedintimatelyinchosenspaces,bothpublicanddomestic.
Theprojectrootedfromthestrugglewithtransportingartworksbycommuting Making zinesallowedmetocontainmyideasintoaneasy-to-transportobjectintheformofa book.ButIasexhibitmyworksingalleries,Iquestionifbooks/zinesachievetheir purpose to be interactive, given that white cube spaces are mostly for displaying artworks. In the times of lockdown immobility, Parcel Exhibitions by Pam Quinto introducedanalternativeexhibitionmodalitythatpresentsartbeyondthewhitecube,to beexperiencedinthesafetyoftheaudience'shomes.Throughthis,themutualthemesof accessibility,portability,andintimacyofParcelExhibitionsandbooksaremergedinthe formofatravelinglibrary.
Inmakingtheproject,thedesignoftheboxisintendedtobebothparcelandbookshelf: 1)thelidisatableandadesk,2)thebodycontainstheworkbutisalsothecabinet,3) dividersforsafetyarealsoshelves,and4)thesizeoftheactualparcelisequivalenttothe commonmeasurementofthemotorcyclecourierslimitingthesizeoftheworksto include.Thisprojectallowsaudiencestoexperienceinteractiveandtactileworkslike booksandzineinvariousatmospheres,initiatinggatheringsandsparkingconversations whichIthinkistheessenceofbringingbustogetherthroughart.
The title, SONGS ABOUT HONEY, takes inspiration from the eco-friendly honeycombrkraftpaper(thepackagingmaterialusedtoprotecttheworkspresented here),aswellasthebox'sdesignwhichresemblesabeehive coincidentallyforminga themeaboutbees.

Theideaforthisparticularbookcamefromanaccidentalinkjetprintonparchment whichproducedasoftened,wateryimage.Iwantedtoseethiseffectonfacesand searchedmyarchivesforthem,ofwhichIdiscoveredveryfew.
“33faces,2008-2022”collects25photographsinaspecificbookformat--asone recordofasustainedtendencytomakeimagesandwhatthislookslikefrommy singularviewpoint.
