Welcome to 2023 and the first edition of Rawson Review for this year. We have an exciting season of events, dining and activities scheduled and we can’t wait to welcome you to your Club.
I am pleased to inform you that late last year Rawsons Restaurant won ‘Most Outstanding Restaurant’ and I acknowledge the efforts of the entire team in this achievement. Well done! January always means sunshine, holidays and Australia Day and we have a week-long celebration to mark this special occasion. For school holidays we’re pleased to offer ‘Kids Eat Free’ and in keeping with the multicultural spirit of our local community we will be celebrating Chinese New Year as well! Of course, don’t forget to book a table for Valentine’s Day Dinner, our team would love to host you on this special night for two.
Our Club Grants program opens for 2023 applications in March, and we are looking forward to partnering with some new organisations and supporting the wider community. Please see the Club’s website for more information on this fabulous initiative and how you could benefit from it if you are involved with a community organisation, school, charity or sporting club. We are so very proud of our community work, and you too could join the long list of recipients including Karonga School, Foster Care Angels, Golden Kangaroos and War Windows Guild to further your work within the wider Epping area.

The Anzac Dawn Service will commence at 6am at the Cenotaph in Forest Park (off Blaxland Road) Epping. All veterans who would like to parade, please assemble at the stairs off Blaxland Road at 5:45am to then march together. Should rain prevent this service being held at Forest Park there will be a service held in the foyer of The Epping Club.

During last year support for our bi-monthly coach outings dropped dramatically in patronage, and we have become aware of some reasons why. None of us are getting any younger, and the sheer exertion to get on and off the coach is quite noticeable. Additionally, we have a growing number who need to bring their walker, and this requires a large coach to accommodate them, which when we are not getting the patronage is not viable.
Following a circular letter to members during last year to canvass feelings, a clear majority supported the decision to replace the coach outings with a lunch at The Epping Club. The benefit of this is you would come to The Epping Club at a more manageable time of day, and conveniently park downstairs and come up in the lift. This lunch will be advertised in The Rawson Review and Epping Club members are most welcome to join us by making their booking at the Concierge Desk in the foyer. The first of these lunches will be on Tuesday 14 March 2023. Epping RSL Senior Members Association members will book for these occasions in the usual way, at the monthly general meeting.
