15 Students Named National Merit Finalists: Fifteen EA seniors who were selected as National Merit Semifinalists in fall 2023 have all advanced to the Finalist standing in the competition for National Merit Scholarship Awards. Chosen from more than 15,000 Semifinalists, the Finalists were selected based on their 2022 PSAT/NMSQT® scholarship test scores and are now being considered for some 7,000 National Merit Scholarships that will be announced this spring. Thirty-seven seniors have been recognized, at several levels this school year, by the National Merit Scholarship Program.

"This year's Lilley Fellows selected diverse research topics ranging from education access during the pandemic and mapping DNA to women in STEM and fostering empathy in education systems," said Director of Libraries and Lilley Fellow Program Director Lorie Harding.
Established in 2018 by Mr. and Mrs. William Lilley III ’55, the Lilley Fellowship Fund awards research fellowships to students who exemplify academic curiosity, intellectual rigor, and scholarly passion.

Multiple First Place, Judge's Awards & Perfect Scores at PJAS
Regionals: It was a record-setting year for EA student-scientists who competed at the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) regional competition. The number of participants doubled this year to nearly 60 student projects. Of those, 49 competed at the regional level. "My favorite part of EA PJAS is that the students can explore any topic in STEM that they are interested in, and the range of interests is truly impressive," remarked Upper School Science Teacher and PJAS Advisor Dr. Katie Colyer.
All EA participants won first and second place awards, while four students were awarded Perfect Scores and four students won Special Awards from the judges for going above and beyond in some aspects of their projects.

Metamorphoses: This past October, the Domino Club performed their rendition of Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses, mesmerizing the audience with imaginative storytelling and powerful performances. As they retold the Myths of Ovid, audiences saw tales of love, loss, and transformation come to life in the Ridgway Blackbox Theater.
Frozen JR.: The Harlequin Ensemble took the big stage in the Carrafiell Family Theater for their fall musical, Frozen JR., performing hits like “Let It Go” (amongst falling snow!). Adapted from the beloved Disney film, Frozen JR. tells the story of Anna, a princess who sets out to find her sister Elsa, who has frozen the kingdom of Arendelle with her magic powers.
Creativity Shines in CommUNITY Exhibition: In an effort to have the entire school come together and unite as one creatively, the Visual Arts Department led the charge in an all-school art exhibition aptly named "commUNITY." On display from Jan. 24 to Feb. 24 in the Crawford Campus Center Gallery, the exhibit featured nearly 500 8" x 8" pieces created by EA students, faculty, staff, trustees, alumni, and more—all unique in their own way.
In addition to the pieces in the gallery itself, students in Honors Photo IV and Honors Photo III showcased portrait work in a complementary photo exhibition just outside the Gallery called "Faces of EA."

In Birnam Wood
Timeless Dance Concert: In February, audiences journeyed through time with our Middle and Upper School dancers as they presented Timeless in the Carrafiell Family Theater. Featuring numerous solos and original choreography in all dance genres by our own EA students, the concert showcased EA’s finest talents.
Upper School students explored 50 years of hip-hop and danced their way through movie musicals. Contemporary dancers grappled to protect and understand the fleeting nature of time in "Older" and "Clockwork," and jazz dancers worked from "9-5." From an Afro-Caribbean piece, musical theater, and a salsa number, the show offered a timeless adventure in dance!
Spring Shows: It's showtime! This spring, the Domino Club and the Harlequin Ensemble look forward to an incredible season of theatre.
The Domino Club returns to the Carrafiell Family Theater with their rendition of Pippin, the Broadway classic that tells the story of a young prince who “longs to find passion and adventure in his life.” Meanwhile, the Harlequin Ensemble will present In Birnam Wood—a magical concoction mixed with horror, humor, and suspense—in the Ridgway Blackbox Theater.
