Clean, Deep and Dark Web

W

e have seen and noticed for long regarding internet the endless virtual world. We have seen food, groceries, etc. being delivered at our doorstep. Information which was found only in books are now being accessed in our fingertips.

For most of us we use one of the search engines to search for any information in any of the leading search engines. However, we do not know what is in existence beyond our day to day browsing. John Prakash Jha (CEO and founder of Netsach), said that while the internet appears to be a flat ecosystem on its surface, there are actually numerous different layers at play. In reality, there are three major areas of the Internet to differentiate between: 1. Clear web 2. Deep Web 3. Dark Web The clear web, also known as the surface, normal or open web, is the internet that you usually use on a day-today basis. These are websites that have been made available to the general public and are indexed by search engines. You can also access them using regular browsers, for example, Chrome. In contrast to the open web, the deep web is not available to the general public, nor is it indexed by search engines. However, unlike the dark web, deep web pages exist to keep various things operational. You can access the deep web using standard browsers. Examples of entities that use the deep web include banks, hotels, and libraries. Thirdly, you have the dark web. It is inaccessible via regular browsers, and it is not available on sites that are indexed by search engines. To access the dark web, you will require software that is compatible with the Tor network. The dark web uses complex systems to turn user IP addresses anonymous. That makes it extremely difficult for your online activity to be tracked or traced back to a particular address. The deep Web is qualitatively different from the surface Web. Deep Web sources store their content in searchable databases that only produce results dynamically in response to a direct request. But a direct query is a “one at a time” laborious way to search. Tor stands for The Onion Router, and millions of people use it each day to access the dark web. It works by wrapping itself around your message, thus forming layers of encryption to achieve anonymity. Subsequently, searches and messages don’t directly arrive at the destination you intended, keeping your identity anonymous. Five ways to protect yourself using dark web 1. Use a VPN 2. Few cyber security facts being picked up from various sources: 95% of cybersecurity breaches are caused by human error. The worldwide information security market is forecast to reach $170.4 billion in 2022. 88% of organizations worldwide experienced spear phishing attempts in 2019. 68% of business leaders feel their cybersecurity risks are increasing. On average, only 5% of companies' folders are properly protected. Data breaches exposed 36 billion records in the first half of 2020. 86% of breaches were financially motivated and 10% were motivated by espionage. 45% of breaches featured hacking, 17% involved malware and 22% involved phishing. Between January 1, 2005, and May 31, 2020, there have been 11,762 recorded breaches. The top malicious email attachment types are .doc and .dot which make up 37%, the next highest is .exe at 19.5%. An estimated 300 billion passwords are used by humans and machines worldwide.

At the start, capital and brand building was a major challenge. Our solutions and services were mission critical for large enterprises and they always preferred to engage with big brands. To overcome this and win the trust of our customers we partnered with multi-billion-dollar system integrators. They helped us penetrate global markets and deepen our understanding of the domains. Another major challenge was that our solutions and services had long sales cycles. A great team, persistence, and technological innovation helped us sail through our challenging times. • Which was that point that triggered the growth of the company? As a speaker at many tech forums, I have had the pleasure to meet and interact with renowned people from across the world. These experiences have really made an impact on me. • What are the key achievements of your entrepreneurial journey? Till about 2013- 2014 we were primarily operating in the Indian market. Post-2014 we began our journey into the global market. Today with clients across 45 countries, and many more to go, my entrepreneurial journey has been a great learning.I have always been the eternal optimist. Even as I started off, I had always dreamt of seeing Intense Technologies make its mark globally.

This is the story of David Daneshgar, who is not only a professional poker player but also has been ranked as one of the world's best poker player and how he used his skills to fulfil his dream of starting his own business. “It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation.” The shuffle in the deck and his life. David Charles Daneshgar was born in Westlake Village, California on June 18, 1981. He started his life there and attended the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

He always had a knack for business and wanted to start his own business, so he along with two of his friends decided to form a company, where they would bridge the gap between florist and customers alike. The only thing that stopped them getting started and venturing into the world of business was funding, as they did not have any. This is where David’s world-class skills of poker played a crucial role, his friends enrolled him into a competition where won the $27,000 dollars which were enough to start his business. He was not only an outstanding poker player as he was one of the top five poker players in the world from 2005 to 2008. And this is equally fascinating as there happens to be a lot of poker tournaments and with his skills, he can get all the funding he needs for his dream of starting a business. David and his two friends – Farbod and George realised the problems between florists and customers and how large floral brokerage services worsened the situation. They also wanted local artists with unique artistry and skills get the credit and fame that they truly deserve for their work and this marked the beginning of their start-up – “BloomNation”. They respected the skills and art that was put in by local florists and also, they came across the troubles and problems faced by florists who were exploited by big companies. In order to give these florists a platform and recognition for their

Is there any new addition to the list of products/services? Anything exciting you would like to share? At the store level, we have a lot of ambitious plans to bring in solutions in the future to transition our point of presence at a retail outlet from a cost point to a revenue generation point for a retailer. Can you please brief us about your professional experience? I am a management graduate with 21 yrs. Of professional experience. It has been a very challenging journey full of the learning experience. Since we have achieved this, the growth is just a function of how fast you reach out to customers through various channels. Making yourself relevant every day is the key to establish yourself in such a competitive market. How do you look after your employees? What makes your team unique? We work very closely with our team. You cannot achieve success without your team. Our focus is to develop leadership skills in each of the team members and prepare them for a larger role with growth. Together we share pain and happiness, which involves them with our mission. We ensure that we always create better growth opportunities for our employees. Is there any special experience with your clients you would like to highlight? Since we are engaged with MSME, many incidents are heart-warming and heartbreaking too. been doing this successfully. One person, who you admire the most? It is difficult to share one name. We learn through various facets of life. Two names that are building blocks for me are Tata business and Infosys. his theory of five competitive forces was given by Michael Porter, and is also often called as Porter's Five Forces. This theory proves to be a powerful tool to understand the competitiveness of the business environment. With it, you can identify the potential profitability of your strategies. This is important for the growth of your business because when you understand the factors that might affect the profitability, you are then free to make changes in your business strategy, adjust it accordingly without any effect on your profitability.

Let us look at Porter's Five Forces, how they can have an impact on your long-term profitability and identify the strengths and weaknesses of your business. In this analysis, Porter recognized that all the organizations are most likely to keep a watch on the rival organizations. But he encouraged the leaders to look beyond their competitors and look at the factors that could impact the business environment.

What makes up the competitive environment? 1. Competitive Rivalry Competitive Rivalry is the number and strength of your competitors. Here you look at the questions like How many rivals you have? Who are they and what is the quality of their products and services? How does it compare to yours? The companies can implement strategies like aggressive price cuts and strong marketing campaigns to attract the customers where there is intense rivalry. This will weaken your position and also have an impact on the profitability. 5. Threat of New Entry Other than substitution, what is more dangerous is the threat of a new entry. How easy is it t enter your industry? If it is easy and it takes a little effort to enter the market, it is certain that your rivals will enter the market and weaken your position. But if your barriers to entry are strong and durable, then you will be able to preserve your position in the market with favorable profits.

According to Porter, these five forces are the key sources to the pressure in industry. It is important to differentiate these factors and not confuse them with the other causes like the growth rates, government interventions, and even technological inventions. Because these are temporary factors whereas the Five Forces are permanent. So in order to not let the competition sweep you away, you need to stress on each of the forces and note your observations. Next you need to think of the factors that are relevant to your market situation. And then lastly, summarize the size and scale of the diagram. This process will give you an insight on how and what factors are affecting your business. You can reinforce necessary changes to improve your industry position and with it also increase the profitability of your business.
