As we begin our third decade on Frist Campus, athletics remains an integral part of the Ensworth mission to educate the whole student. We believe that fulfilling a commitment, competing, and participating in athletics is a vital part of a well-rounded educational experience. We believe participating on an athletic team improves academic performance, and we encourage our student-athletes to be multisport participants.
Our athletics program provides an opportunity for our students to grow, learn, and challenge themselves while developing their physical and intellectual skills. Ensworth encourages our students to use their talents to the fullest and be leaders who demonstrate discipline, compassion, humor, and joy.
Through the leadership of our founding Director of Athletics Ricky Bowers, we established the desire to be countercultural and build a tradition of competition where success is not measured by comparison to others, but by the standard of excellence we expect of ourselves. We celebrate selfless action, sincere encouragement, intelligent play, and intense preparation. We seek not to find our value in the score on the board, but rather in the intensity of our effort, depth of our friendships, and excellence of our attitudes. Go Tigers!
