All academic courses are rigorous college preparatory courses. • Lower-level Honors courses are by placement only. Every enrollment in an upper-level advanced course must be reviewed and approved by the appropriate department. • Ensworth uses a 100-point GPA scale and does not rank students. • GPA includes grades received at Ensworth in academic classes. • Ensworth offers a rich selection of courses including Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), Advanced Topics (AT), Capstone, and Masters level offerings.

The Harkness Method The Harkness table forms an integral part of the identity of the high school. The large oval table fosters active learning and physically unites the class, bringing teachers and students together to facilitate face-to-face interaction. • The table emphasizes the importance of listening and speaking with respect and requires preparation through class assignments and sustained engagement of the students. • Students and faculty engage in collaborative discourse, and every student is expected to be an active participant in the exploration and discussion of ideas. • The Harkness Method fosters deeper understanding and respectful dialogue among students.

Capstone Scholars Program Ensworth’s Capstone Scholars Program offers students in Grade 12 the opportunity to engage in an extensive exploration of an academic passion that lies above and beyond courses normally offered.

Four-Year College Counseling Program

Year 1 Freshman students focus on laying the groundwork for both personal and academic development.

Year 2 During sophomore year, students meet with their college counselor to discuss course selection and summer opportunities.

Ensworth’s four-year college counseling and academic advising model assigns students to a college counselor and academic advisor at the beginning of freshman year who will advise them throughout their Ensworth career and help them identify their best college fit.

Our goal is to provide our students with the tools and insights necessary to make the most of their time at Ensworth, guiding them towards both academic success and personal fulfillment. Through early and tailored discussions with a college counselor, students explore: • The wide range of resources, academic programs, and opportunities available to them at Ensworth • The importance of developing an academic transcript that reflects consistent growth and achievement • Establishing a healthy balance between academics and extracurriculars • Discovering interests through clubs, athletics, arts, and service

E Hi

A

As you navigate this process, we encourage students to approach the college search process as an opportunity for both personal and academic development, all while maximizing and enhancing the values of Ensworth’s mission and Core Skills. Throughout the course of the year, students will: • Take the PSAT to become familiar with the test format • Participate in a practice ACT to enhance readiness • Continue to explore interests through clubs, athletics, arts, and service • Explore Ensworth’s college search software

Year 3 During junior year at Ensworth, our students’ journey toward college becomes more defined.

Year 4 The college counseling and academic advising process culminates during senior year, as counselors continue to enhance students’ skills, interests, and overall high school experience until commencement.

HS Profile_CollegeMap2026.indd 1

Starting in September, students continue their individual meetings with their college counselors to align academic goals with potential higher education institutions. Students benefit from multiple on-campus college fairs, private college visits, and guest speakers from college admissions offices. Additionally, students work with their college counselor to: • Explore academic interests, majors, and potential career paths • Research and curate a well-rounded list of colleges • Prepare for college campus visits • Organize and prepare for standardized tests like the SAT and ACT • Craft a comprehensive activities résumé • Seek letters of recommendation from faculty members

BRO

Off During senior year, students continue to work one-on-one with their college counselor to: • Finalize a list of college applications • Write essays and personal statements • Manage approaching deadlines • Navigate the complexities of application and financial aid procedures • Prepare for college interviews • Choose a college
