Elms Fund for Excellence: Covering the GAP Dear Elms Community, As the pages of this Annual Report reveal, there are many Elms Community members who have given to benefit our school, our students and our staff. Our hearts are deeply grateful for their donation and generous spirit. These pages will also reveal the myriad of ways that one can give to Our Lady of the Elms: Elms Fund for Excellence - covering the gap between tuition and the cost to educate a student. Provides funding for operations which includes salaries, benefits, classroom supplies, technology and so much more. Raise the Roof - generating funding to pay for the necesseary replacement of the High School and Elementary School roofs. PAW (Panthers Achieve Wireless) - providing funding for a wireless initiative for all grades.
The Elms Fund for Excellence raises funds to help cover the deficit between tuition and the actual cost of a quality education. The Elms relies on the success of the Elms Fund for Excellence to assist in balancing the budget for each academic year and to keep tuition as affordable as possible. Your support of the Elms Fund for Excellence is an investment which directly benefits the girls and young women of Our Lady of the Elms as they experience the unforgettable journey that is Dominican Catholic Education. The tuition GAP for 2012-2013 is $2,780 per student. We respectfully appeal to our alumnae, families and friends to help us cover the GAP.

Membership is open to all individuals, companies and foundations that make a gift of $1,000 or more to the Elms Fund for Excellence during the fiscal year – which runs from July 1 through June 30. Members are recognized at a special mass in the fall where they receive an exclusive Elms Benefactors for Excellence recognition key chain for free admittance for two to all theater and athletic events held on the Our Lady of the Elms athletic and school campuses. The Elms Circle of Angels is a caring group of donors who wish to be contacted if a student or potential student is in need of financial assistance for tuition, yearbook, field trips, athletic fees or other school needs. When contacted, donors may choose whether or not to support the student and at what level.
Would You Be An Angel? It’s registration time for 2013-14 and tuition assistance requests for the next school year are already being received. In many cases, without assistance from our Circle of Angels, these new students will not be able to attend the Elms and we don’t want to turn away any of the incoming students for the 2013-2014 school year. We have five students identified, today, that need financial assistance for the next school year. You can help these girls in one of two ways: • If you are already signed up to be an Angel, please consider making a gift today. • If you are not already an Angel, please consider becoming an Angel and making a gift to the Circle of Angels today. Things to note: • Please consider giving at whatever level you are able. • If you are able to help support one of these students, we request that your first gift be delivered by Friday, June 28, 2013. • We can combine your gift with gifts from other generous benefactors (e.g. Angel A gives $100, Angel B gives $1,000 and Angel C gives $500 towards the same girl in need for a total of $1,600 in assistance.) • We can accept your gift in the form of cash, check (payable to Our Lady of the Elms), or credit card: Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express (this could help your flyer miles). The High School and Elementary School roofs were over 50 years old and needed to be replaced immediately. The Elementary School boiler was so old that it refused to tell us its age and needed replaced immediately. Due to the urgency of these projects, the roofs and the boiler have been replaced and are keeping our students, faculty and staff warm and dry. However, we still need to pay for them. Just as a roof is replaced shingle by shingle, the support for this project is being assembled piece by piece, dollar by dollar. Each donor, corporation and foundation is asked to contribute as they are able to help Our Lady of the Elms reach our total Raise the Roof and Boiler Replacement goal of $720,000. To date, we have raised over $200,000 and we are excited to share: • The Lehner Family Foundation has made a generous matching challenge of $150,000 towards the roof replacement projects. •
The Carole and Anthony Coury Family Foundation agreed to match any gift up to $26,000.
