Dear Dunham Family, What an incredible time it is to be a Dunham tiger! God has richly blessed our school, and we continue to achieve record success in all aspects of school life.

I’m truly thankful for our amazing Dunham community of students, faculty, staff, parents, and grandparents. Our desire is to honor God in everything that we do, and while we always feel we have room for improvement, I continue to be amazed at what our school has accomplished.

I’m especially thankful for the prayerful support and commitment of our parents and grandparents who continue to provide for our God-given dreams and plans. From our academic program to our college placement, our athletic success and our fine arts performance, I am thankful for the blessings that continue to flow. Praise God for His faithfulness to provide for us as we strive to reach ever higher in all areas of school life.

Changing the Game with Every Spray:

Kennedi Owens ’27, owner of Phunk Off Whole Body Deodorant, is a student-athlete and entrepreneur driven to solve real-life problems with innovative solutions. Her first business venture was a line of kid-friendly hygiene products called Sweet Skin. Now, she’s refining her purpose through Phunk Off—a deodorant for people of all ages.

“Phunk Off is a spray deodorant that lasts up to 72 hours,” Kennedi says. “It kills bacteria, doesn’t leave residue, and you can use it on clothes too. It’s perfect for athletes and anyone who’s always on the move.”

Kennedi’s journey began at just nine years old, sparked by a simple need: finding a deodorant that worked for her. After a frustrating shopping trip with her mom—who jokingly suggested she make her own—Kennedi took the idea seriously. She dove into online research, developed a homemade formula, and impressed her parents with her commitment. With their support, she partnered with chemists to create Sweet Skin, a skincare line for kids featuring deodorant, face wash, lotion, and lip gloss.

Sweet Skin gained traction in 2019, attracting interest from retailers and even a call from a nationally recognized talk show. Kennedi’s appearance on The Ellen Show’s Fempire series, hosted by Ayesha Curry, spotlighted her journey as a young entrepreneur. “Getting to meet Ayesha and hear her business advice was like a dream come true,” says Kennedi.

But when the pandemic hit, operations were put on hold.

“If you see a problem, solve it. Don’t wait for someone else to do it. And don’t be afraid to start young,” she says. She also encourages young entrepreneurs to stay true to their vision: “You don’t have to follow someone else’s path. Find your lane and own it.”

After a few years away from the business, Kennedi decided to relaunch her venture with a renewed focus: developing a spray deodorant that was both effective and inclusive. “I wanted something that worked for everyone,” she says. That vision led to Phunk Off, which launched in partnership with Union Street Joint Ventures in the summer of 2022 and is now fully owned by Kennedi.

Kennedi has been part of the Dunham community since seventh grade, and her impact has grown steadily over the years. Now a junior, she’s known for her leadership and mentorship—especially among younger athletes. Though not formally appointed as volleyball team captain, she naturally steps into guiding roles, offering encouragement and support to her peers. That quiet strength comes from a deeper source. Faith is a steady guide in Kennedi’s life. “God has always been my biggest advisor—whether I’m making last-second decisions on the court or long-term ones in business,” she says. “Sometimes the ideas I have can only come from Him.” Grounded by the support she’s found at Dunham, Kennedi balances academics, athletics, and business with confidence. “The teachers are the best. They’re so flexible and want us to prioritize our future,” she says. Her classmates have embraced her journey, too. “They call me ‘Sweet Skin’ and stop me in the hallway to ask when the next scent is coming out.” That kind of support, she says, has made all the difference.

Kennedi is inspired by the encouragement she’s received at Dunham and is eager to give back. She offers bold advice to her peers and future entrepreneurs. “If you see a problem, solve it. This spring, Kennedi plans to expand and rebrand her company as Sken—a name that reflects her passion for fullbody skincare and nods to both her own name and her original brand, Sweet Skin. “Phunk Off was a steppingstone to something bigger,” she says. “Trusting in God fully makes these decisions less scary and more exciting.”

After she graduates next year, Kennedi hopes to continue building her brand while playing college volleyball.

From a homemade formula to a growing brand, Kennedi Owens has transformed a personal need into a purpose-driven business. With the support of her school, her peers, and her own determination, she’s building something bigger than a product—she’s building a legacy. She’s proof that when you start young, stay true to your vision, and solve real problems, the impact can reach far beyond the hallway.

Alumni Spotlights PEYTON FINICAL ’13 Peyton Finical ’13 is co-founder of Sasquatch Waste, a mobile waste-compaction company that opened in 2022. By compacting waste on-site instead of relying solely on traditional hauling, Peyton and his business partner, Joshua Crowder, offer businesses a more cost efficient and environmentally conscious approach to waste management. Peyton, who was named to Greater Baton Rouge Business Report’s Forty Under 40 class in 2024, is married to Lauren Talbert Finical ’13. Their daughter, Lottie, is in PK4 at Dunham.

When did you come to Dunham? I came to Dunham for my 9th grade year in 2009.

How has Dunham impacted your life? Dunham has been everything to me. It's where I spent the most Peyton Finical ’13

formative years of my life. It's where I met my wife, and it's now where my daughter goes to school.

Dunham has had a huge impact.

What is your favorite Dunham memory? My favorite Dunham memory is my freshman homecoming. It was the first time I tried to "flirt" with my wife. I waited for a slow song and made my move! To this day, it is still the most vivid memory I have from Dunham.

Who was your favorite teacher or coach and why? My two favorite coaches were Coach Tupper and Coach Smith; they were authentic, and they believed in me.

Tell us a Field Day story. My favorite field day story is from my sophomore year. We were in the middle of an event, and a senior at the time was competing. During the competition, he dislocated his shoulder bobbing for apples and proceeded to pop it back into place and finished the competition. I like this story because field day should be competitive!

What advice that you would give to students considering a career in your field? I don't know how many students are considering trash as their next career, but it is consistent!

HUNTER KINCHEN ’10 Hunter Kinchen ’10 is vice president for employee benefits at Higginbotham Insurance where he assists area employers and nonprofits to provide quality, affordable health care options for their employees. Last year, Hunter was ranked No. 1 on Business Insurance America’s 5-Star Brokerage list and was named to Greater Baton Rouge Business Report’s Forty Under 40 class. Hunter attended LSU where he was a walk-on wide receiver for the Bayou Bengals from 2010 to 2012. He and his wife, Lauren, have four children, Remi ’36, Piper ’38, Asher, and Brady.

When did you come to Dunham? I came to Dunham for my 8th grade year in fall of 2005.

How has Dunham impacted your life? Dunham has impacted my life in a lot of ways, which is one of the reasons I choose to send my kids to Dunham. As a student, it can be hard to grasp the opportunities Dunham

affords you and take them for granted. However, looking back as an adult, it was the Christlike examples that were set for me by my teachers and coaches that really stuck with me. It’s reassuring to know that many of those teachers and coaches are still part of the school that my kids now attend.

What is your favorite Dunham memory? My favorite Dunham memory is probably our first football game in the new stadium. The game was pretty neck and neck and ended up coming down to a field goal. It was my sophomore year, and I was mainly a wing back. However, I was also on the field goal team as the deep snapper. I’m not sure if memory serves me right, but I’m pretty sure we lined up for the field goal on 3rd down, and I botched the first snap badly. I believe our holder was Ryan Thibodeaux, and he saved it, but we didn’t get the kickoff. Thankfully, we got another chance on 4th down and ended up making the kick to win the first game ever on that field.

What advice that you would offer to students considering a career in insurance? I’m not sure many students are aware about the career opportunities in insurance, so first I would like to share that there are great opportunities to consider in this field. Second, it’s a great career that allows you to build meaningful relationships and serve the businesses in your local community or anywhere in the country.

Empowers From the Inside Out: Lane McNeil ’34

Lane McNeil ’34, co-founder of Sweet Lane, is a fourth grader with a big heart and a bold eye for design. She and her mother, Jeanne McCollister McNeil, created a clothing brand that blends art and affirmations to nurture self-confidence among young girls.

“Every design has a story,” Lane explains. “I like when shirts mean something. It’s not just about looking cute—it’s about remembering people and feeling strong. My mom and I made the company to help build up girls my age, but it works for grown-ups too.”

The company began nearly two years ago with stickers and accessories made at home alongside friends and family. T-shirts designed for girls Lane’s age soon followed, along with a move to the business incubator at LSU’s Innovation Park, which supports early-stage ventures with resources, mentorship, and space to grow.

Lane sketches each idea herself, while her mom helps bring them to life through a blend of AI and digital hand-painting, using an Apple Pencil and design software.

Each shirt is paired with vinyl glitter affirmation sticker tags, featuring phrases like “I am strong”, “I can do hard things”, and “I will succeed.”

These messages aren’t just branding—they’re personal. Lane and Jeanne speak openly about struggling with self-doubt and want other girls to know they’re not alone. “We want girls to feel brave,” Jeanne says, “to know they’re loved and capable, even when they’re unsure. I grew up being taught that whether you believe you can or you can’t—you’re right. I want Lane and all adolescent girls to know they are deeply loved and fully capable, even in moments of self-doubt.”

With their message gaining momentum, Lane and Jeanne took Sweet Lane to its first major market. The brand officially launched in February 2025 at the Atlanta Market Temporaries, where they connected with the owners of The Klein Group showroom. A few months later, they were invited to The Klein Group’s Dallas location (operating 30 years now), giving Lane the chance to meet the full team and present their collection in person.

“The owner, Marilyn Klein, and Lane instantly hit it off,” said Jeanne. “They were kindred spirits, no doubt. Marilyn’s exact words to Lane were to stay true to herself and never change a thing. She reminded her that she’s destined for 6

Seniors Recognized by The National Merit Scholarship Corporation The Dunham School is proud to announce that the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) has named seniors Aiden Fee and Camille Istre as National Merit Semifinalists. Aiden and Camille now advance to compete for one of 6,930 National Merit Scholarships that will be awarded next spring.

To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. Approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.

More than 1.3 million high school juniors entered the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants from each state.

National Merit Scholarship winners for 2026 will be announced in four nationwide news releases beginning in April and concluding in July. If selected to receive a National Merit Scholarship, Aiden and Camille will join a distinguished group of Dunham graduates, including George Harrod ’25, Samay Mirpuri ’24, Jackson Ford ’23, Jake Rizzo ’23, Austin Stevens ’23, Joshua Harris ’22, Ciara Venable ’21, Parker Harris ’19, Luke Russell ’19, Alyssa Sharbaugh ’18, and Gabby Walker ’17, who have all received the Merit Scholar designation.

NMSC was established in 1955 specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Scholarships are underwritten by NMSC with its own funds and by approximately 280 business organizations, high education institutions, and individual donors that share NMSC’s goals of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.

Ciara Martin Earns CFRE, Prepares for New Role at Dunham The Dunham School is excited to announce that Director of Annual Giving Ciara Martin has successfully completed her CFRE certification. In January, Mrs. Martin will move into a new role as development officer for major gifts to assist in the solicitation and cultivation of major gift donors.

The Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) is the highest industry certification that a fundraising professional can obtain. Requiring expertise in the latest fundraising standards, experience in soliciting donations, and knowledge of stewardship of a donor’s gift, the CFRE identifies Mrs. Martin as a talented fundraiser who demonstrates the highest level of industry and ethical standards. This certification will assist Mrs. Martin in her new role in major giving.

“Ciara is the first member of our team to receive the CFRE certification, and we are thrilled for us and The Dunham community. Ciara continues to demonstrate her desire to grow in her skill set with a desire to be a lifelong learner,” remarked Director of Development Kelly DeRossette. “Ciara continues to be an amazing asset to our team, and I am thrilled for her to move into her new role in January. She will play a vital role in the upcoming fundraising for Phases II and III of our Campus Master Plan.”

Mrs. Martin joined the development team in July 2021. Last year, under her leadership, The Dunham Fund reach the highest parent participation in five years. She and her husband, Blake, have three children: Nash ’38, and Nolan ’40, and Nora.

Madison Douglas Joins Development Team The Development Office is pleased to announce the hiring of Madison Douglas as annual giving coordinator. In this role, Mrs. Douglas will oversee the fundraising goal of $900,000 for The Dunham Fund and the volunteer Annual Giving Parent Cabinet.

In addition to her fundraising responsibilities, Mrs. Douglas will curate prospecting protocols and a stewardship plan for the development team.

“This position will round out our team in a meaningful way to ensure that donors' gifts are cultivated and stewarded well. Madison was a perfect fit, and we can’t wait to have her join our team,” said Director of Development Kelly DeRossette.

Mrs. Douglas said, “I am thrilled to join the development team at The Dunham School, where faith, excellence, and community are at the heart of everything! I look forward to building meaningful relationships and advancing the mission that makes Dunham such a transformative place for students and families.”

Mrs. Douglas joins Dunham after previous roles at the Make-A-Wish Foundation, LSU Alumni Association, and the American Cancer Society where she cultivated donor relationships and built meaningful annual giving solicitations. Originally from Texas, she has lived in Baton Rouge for three years with her husband, Matthew.

Coach Neil Weiner Achieves Milestone Win Following a 42-7 win over Ascension Catholic on September 25, Director of Athletics and Head Football Coach Neil Weiner secured another victory: his 100th career win at Dunham.

Coach Neil Weiner, pictured with Upper School Head Amanda McIlwain and Head of School Steve Eagleton, was honored for his 100th win at Dunham during a half-time presentation on October 24.

Coach Weiner has led the Tigers for the past 12 years. Under his leadership, the football program has achieved remarkable success, including seven district championships and two state runner-up titles.

Last year, Coach Weiner achieved his 150th overall career victory during an undefeated regular season that culminated in the Tigers’ second trip in three years to play in the LHSAA Division III Select State Championship game in the Superdome.

Throughout his tenure at Dunham, Coach Weiner has earned numerous accolades, including recognition as All-District Coach of the Year, All-Metro Coach of the Year, Louisiana Football Report’s Coach of the Year, Louisiana Sports Writers Association Coach of the Year, and New Orleans Saints High School Coach of the Week. His program has consistently developed standout athletes, with numerous players earning All-District, All-Metro, and All-State honors.

Before joining Dunham in 2014, Coach Weiner served as an assistant coach at Catholic High, Redemptorist, and Central. He accepted his first head coaching position at Catholic High-Pointe Coupee in 2004 before taking the helm at Zachary High School in 2009.

CONGRATULATIONS TO COACH HERRINGTON AND THE LADY TIGERS for finishing the 2025 season as the LHSAA Division IV State Runner-Up! DURING THE REGULAR SEASON, QUARTERBACK ELIJAH HAVEN ’27 also achieved a milestone by surpassing 150 career touchdowns. Following the victory over Slaughter Charter on November 7, Elijah accumulated a career total of 158 touchdowns—118 passing and 40 rushing—as well as more than 10,200 career total yards.

AS WE HEAD TO PRINT, ALL FOUR OF OUR FALL SPORTS TEAMS HAVE EXPERIENCED SUCCESS THIS SEASON. In volleyball, Coach Herrington and the Lady Tigers proved to be fierce competitors and headed into the state tournament at the Cajundome as the #1 seed.

After defeating Notre Dame in the quarterfinals and John Curtis in the semifinals, the team took on Newman in the Division IV State Championship. After a hard-fought battle, the team finished the season as state runner-up.

Led by Coach Aaron Nasers, runners on the cross country team once again qualified for the state meet in Natchitoches. The boys team finished in third place with Cooper Carnaggio ’28, Tripp Edgerton ’29, David Owens ’28, and Skyler Wood ’28 landing in the top 25 of qualifying team runners.

The girls team took eighth place in the meet with Madeline Boudreaux ’26, Charlotte Chadha ’30, Gracie McIlwain ’29, and Maggie Yarborough ’27 placing in the top 60 of qualifying team runners.

The girls and boys swim teams performed well in the City Championship with the boys team taking 3rd place in the 200 free relay and and 5th place in the 200 medley relay. Tigers who qualified for the state meet on November 19-20, are Hayden Cowen ’27, Finn Fontenot ’26, Caleb Heinlein ’28, Gracie McIlwain ’29, Jack McKearn ’27, Peyton Murray ’28, Lucian Pham ’27, and Avery Tucker ’26.

In football, the Tigers claimed the district championship title for the fourth straight year after a dominant 49-14 victory over Slaughter Charter on November 7.

Finishing the regular season 9-1, the team heads into the playoffs poised to make another run at the Division III Select state title.

The Liz Peters Master Teacher Endowment

The Liz Peters Master Teacher Endowment was established in 2008 with a generous lead gift from Nanette Noland. The fund provides supplemental income for teachers who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and furthers the School’s efforts to attract and retain outstanding teachers. The endowment is named for the late Liz Peters, who was one of the first teachers hired at The Dunham School and truly exemplified the qualities of a master teacher.

SHARE DUNHAM SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS The Al and Mary Gayden Jones Share Dunham Fund Established in 2008 by an anonymous donor, the Al and Mary Gayden Jones Share Dunham Scholarship Fund provides tuition assistance to deserving and academically capable students who could not otherwise afford a Dunham education, with preference given to children of single parents and widows in keeping with James 1:27.

The Leah Hipple McKay Academic Services Scholarship The Leah Hipple McKay Academic Services Scholarship provides need-based financial assistance to students served by the McKay Academic Center for Excellence. The fund was established in 2017 in memory of the late Leah Hipple McKay, who was devoted to helping children on the autism spectrum learn and develop.

The Roy Carnegie Greater Baton Rouge State Fair Scholarship Fund The Baton Rouge State Fair Foundation established the Roy Carnegie Greater Baton Rouge State Fair Scholarship in honor of Mr. Carnegie’s years of volunteer service to the fair, including his tenure on the board of directors. The fund underwrites an annual tuition grant awarded to a Dunham Upper School student who demonstrates excellence in scholarship, leadership, and community service.

The Tensey Pricer Memorial Scholarship Fund The Tensey Pricer Memorial Scholarship was established in 2024 to honor the life of Mr. Tensey Pricer and to acknowledge a student who demonstrates empathetic listening, selfless service, a desire to foster strong peer relationships, and a godly character that is evident to all. Like Tensey Pricer, this student exhibits the Christlike qualities of humility, compassion, and grace.

The Two Coins Scholarship Established by Michael and Sharon Jenkins in 2010, the Two Coins Scholarship is awarded to an eighth-grade student who has demonstrated during his or her middle school years the story of the widow’s offerings as described in Mark 12:4144. The recipient of the scholarship is a student who is diligent in his or her academic work, places others before self, and is involved in extracurricular, community service, and church activities.

The Warren J. Wilson Greater Baton Rouge State Fair Scholarship Fund The Baton Rouge State Fair Foundation established the Warren J. Wilson Greater Baton Rouge State Fair Scholarship in 2015 to honor Mr. Wilson’s 40 years of service to the fair. The annual scholarship is awarded to an upper school student who demonstrates excellence in scholarship, leadership, and community service.

In August of 2025, we celebrated a milestone in our school’s history when Waverly Simon ’40 joined Tiger Nation as our first third generation student.

In reminiscing, Rindy and Connor realized that it wasn’t the memories—although cherished—that had the biggest impact on them. Even with decades between their school experiences, mother and daughter share the sentiment that the relationships formed at Dunham are what made it so special.

Connor has remained close with her best friends from high school, and she is thankful for the meaningful relationships she had with her teachers. She now walks the halls as a Dunham parent, frequently running into faculty members who are still on campus, and Rindy is overjoyed to be a Dunham grandparent who will get the special privilege of attending her first Grandparents Day in February.

Waverly loves knowing that her mom and Lovey were both Dunham Tigers and that it’s now her turn to carry on the tradition. The Lord is writing her story as she learns and grows on campus, building memories to last a lifetime. She will happily tell you that her favorite part of school is going to Chapel on Wednesdays!

Rindy, Connor, and Waverly’s story is a testament to our alma mater. “Here our hearts will linger forever, wandering never far away from Dunham, Dunham, dear alma mater, our hearts stay true, for they belong to you.”

Blitz & Bling: The LSU Sideline Series is a new podcast hosted by Bunnie Cannon ’87 and Ya’el Lofton.

Bunnie Cannon ’87 and Ya’el Lofton have teamed up to launch the podcast, Blitz & Bling: The LSU Sideline Series. Bunnie, daughter of LSU’s legendary Heisman winner Billy Cannon, and Ya’el, who has worked for LSU Football for nearly 40 years, interview coaches, players, fans, and those who work behind-the-scenes to make LSU football the best show in college sports.

Zach Edwards completed work on Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic, The Odyssey, this summer. As assistant director, Zack was responsible for overseeing and coordinating the largest production in Hollywood across four continents and six countries. The film, which is slated for release on July 17, 2026, stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hatheway, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron.

Caroline, who is also a member of the Dunham Athletics Hall of Fame, was named All-Conference, All-Academic All-Conference, and All-South Region during her collegiate volleyball career at Millsaps.

Phillip Charles Scardina graduated from the Disney Aspire Program after earning his MBA, and this summer he was promoted from Product Strategy to Product Allocator (supply chain/ inventory) for all of Disney Springs—which includes the largest Disney store in the world, World of Disney.

2018

Madelyn Redmond married Cobin Leindecker ’20 on September 6, 2025, at Rosecliff Mansion in Newport, Rhode Island. It was a weekend filled with joy, laughter, and love, uniting not only two Dunham alumni, but two Dunham families.

Caden Eagleton is a transaction advisory associate with RSM in New York City.

2021

Jase Augustus and Ainsley Jarreau are engaged. Jase is the owner of JCB Media, a firm that specializes in creating professional, high-quality video content designed for social media. He returned

to the Dunham campus in November to share career advice with Dunham students as part of the Institute of Leadership’s Lunch and Learn series.

2023

Julian Faulk completed an internship with Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. Julian is currently a junior at Baylor University.

Kari Johnson and Jake Rizzo reaffirmed their commitment as cadets during the West Point Affirmation Ceremony. Held near the start of the “cow” year (second class year), the ceremony signifies a renewed commitment to complete the remaining two years of study and active-duty service requirements as U.S. Army officers as well as a dedication to the U.S. Miliary Academy, the Army, the Constitution, and the national government.
