Our first Drivers Union club display at a Brands Hatch event was in 2019 where we had just seven cars on display. Fast forward to 2025 and we now support three high profile Brands Hatch with demo displays and have up to ninety plus members attending.

“There’s no doubt that some cars - especially supercars - are works of art. Beheld in situ, they inspire awe, admiration and, okay, even a little drool. Sleek profiles, glistening bodywork and decadent curves captivate your gaze - but as tantalising as a static exoticar may be, it’s only under the roar of its own power, through the ferocious intensity of acceleration and direction changes, that these machines truly come alive.
Knowing that supercars don’t take on true meaning until they’re unleashed, the Drivers Union Supercar Demonstrations aim to thrill spectators as members put their prized possessions through their paces.
I’ve often had the privilege of the best seat in the house - well, I’m not usually sitting, and it’s not technically a house, but you get the idea. I’m in it, amidst the action. Close enough to smell the oil, the clutches, the rubber; to have my eardrums pummelled by unhinged engines; to feel the vibrations of tremendous torque shaking the tarmac beneath my feet.
But it’s not just that. I get to witness the impact these mighty machines have on the crowds - the beaming grins, the shrieks of delight - and I draw satisfaction from having a small part to play in making their day.
My job as emcee is part storyteller, part conductor of controlled chaos… and part ten-year-old kid. I’m there to keep the crowd informed, entertained, and just a little on edge as McLarens, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and the occasional howling classic, attack a short course as fast as their owners dare to drive between concrete blocks.
Each driver brings their own personality, each machine its own rhythm and history - and I get to narrate that orchestra of horsepower to a crowd that shares the same passion I’ve carried all my life. Truth be told, I’m not just presenting it; I’m soaking it all up too. I’m in the arena, but I’m also out there with the spectators - amazed by the sliding supercars, wondering what it might be like to be part of it all.
Or perhaps these are memories of my own childhood, now made real through the path my life and career have taken. And in doing so, maybe - just maybe - we too are inspiring the next generation of petrolheads (and the wannabe car show presenters!) as a twelve-year-old with a smartphone films a Lotus Emira smoking its tyres right in front of his ecstatic face.
