In 1996, when the Writer’s Block was founded, Black writers, members of “the block” began contributing to the legacy of written works that stamped our existence, cradled our culture, and fortified our souls. The legacy continues with the 25th anniversary edition of Voices from the Block! In this collection, you will experience poems, short stories, essays, novel starts, and more – all lovingly crafted from the hearts and minds of some of our most prolific members.

The Dock Bookshop is one the largest African American owned full-service bookstore in Texas and the Southwest, which opened in 2008. Our mission is to inspire, inform, and entertain our customers through books and book-related events in a relaxing and spacious environment. The Dock also sell audiobooks, eBooks, greeting cards, music, coffee & tea, beverages, candles, novelty & gifts items, personal and home care items.
