2016 Smart Controller Program Dobson Ranch has made a long term commitment to fostering water conservation. Programs have been introduced to conserve water in our common areas and similar programs have been made available to the residents of Dobson Ranch with the primary effort being to educate Ranchers on the need and the possibilities of water conservation. Following SRP’s lead, Dobson Ranch is offering Ranch residents discounts or incentives to install smart irrigation controllers, discounts similar to those offered by SRP. This year, a RainBird 4 Station ESP-SMTe smart controller is being offered at deep discounts off list price. Beginning at the Water Conservation Fair and then at the Annual Ranch Meeting, the new smart controller will be offered to Ranch residents at a reduced price; the same smart controller at the same price offered at the SRP Water Conservation Expo on March 5, 2016.

Smart controllers work. Since installing the first smart controller, the Ranch has saved over 80 million gallons of water irrigating the common areas representing a savings of nearly $80,000.

Since the inception of the residential smart controller program, over 60 homeowners have purchased smart controllers from either the Ranch or SRP at a savings of over $100 per controller. This year, SRP has again offered an expanded smart controller program. The Ranch is following that lead and is offering that same RainBird smart controller to Ranch Residents.

The program works like this. Identify how many zones are in your existing irrigation system or how many zones would work best for your landscape scheme. Remember to include those future changes you have in mind.

Then visit Ewing Irrigation Store in Mesa at 1921S. Horne Road. Identify yourself as a Dobson Ranch Resident and ask to purchase a Rainbird ESP-SMTe Outdoor Smart Controller. The price at Ewing is $149 plus tax. That includes connectors for 4 zones and the weather station. Addition zone modules are available at $25 each to expand in increments of 3 zones per module, up to a total of 22 zones. Bring the controller home and install the new controller in place of your old controller. Once the controller is functioning properly, call the Ranch office and request a Smart Controller Installation Inspection. A convenient time will be arranged to review your setup and installation. Shortly thereafter a Rebate check for $100 will be issued to bring the controller cost to you to $50. Then enjoy a hands-off irrigation experience.
