The TDG and Beautiful South marketing team enjoyed a relaxing press day at the Ageas Bowl Eforea Spa, and had a luxurious day enjoying the spa facilities and treatments.

DECEMBER

Christmas cheer took over the TDG office throughout December, and the team were all hands on deck to make sure our January Directories and Beautiful South January/February got to the printers ready for distribution in 2019! We also took Reverse Advent Calendar donations once again, and thanks to your generosity we had many boxes which were donated to food banks across Hampshire.

PC Health Checks 2018 was a very busy year for The Rosemary Foundation. We cared for more than 230 patients, and their families, recruited four new nurses and care-workers and engaged nine new volunteers to work in our Volunteer Visiting (Befriending) Service. During our 22-year history our nurses have cared for more than 2,500 patients and supported their families and carers through our Bereavement Counselling and Support service.

All our activities continue to be delivered free of charge, 24/7, for patients with any form of life-limiting condition living within a 15-mile radius of Petersfield. We work closely with the local community nursing teams, and those from Rowans Hospice and Macmillan Midhurst to enable more patients to spend their last days at home.

The most significant change for 2019 is our move to our new premises at 35 Lavant Street, Petersfield. Weâ€™re grateful to Nigel and Robina Talbot-Ponsonby and to Stuart Barden and his team at Barden FM for hosting us in Langrish for so many years.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to indulge in a sweet treat, whether you’re enjoying a night in with family, friends, or your partner. Waffles are the perfect desert (or main event) to celebrate the most romantic day of the year as they are easy to make, and ideal for sharing!

HOW TO MAKE IT: Add flour, cocoa, sugar and baking powder to a large bowl, and gradually stir in the milk and egg mix until combined. Whisking until the batter is completely smooth, and double check for any lumps. You can make the batter up to 2 hrs before and leave at room temperature, or alternatively make up to 4 hrs ahead and chill. Preheat your waffle maker and brush with a little oil. Pour in half the batter, close and cook for 3 mins, or longer depending on your machine. Once cooked, repeat with the remaining batter. Alternatively, if you don’t have a waffle maker you can cook half the mixture on a preheated griddle brushed with oil for 2 mins each side over a medium heat, then repeat with the remaining batter. Melt the chocolate with the cream over a medium heat and whisk constantly. Once melted, take off the heat and add 1 tbsp milk to thicken the chocolate mixture. Halve each waffle and arrange on a large plate. Serve with your favourite sweet of savoury topping such as ice cream and raspberries, chocolate sauce, or bacon and maple syrup.

Cowplain • February 2019 Edition A BARKING-MAD DACHSHUND PAWTY RAISES OVER £300 FOR DACHSHUND RESCUE CHARITY leaving parents Verity Bowley and Nathan Humphreys very proud. A sack full of prizes which were donated from local businesses were also given out to the lucky winners by Santa as part of the raffle. Hayley Harris, 40 and from Cowplain, helps to run the Facebook group. She said: ‘We help local sausage dog walkers get together for walks. This is the first big Christmas event we’ve done.’ The Dachshund Pawty was a party like no other with over 45 Dachshunds dressed up as elves, snowmen, angels and more! The adorable sausage dogs competed in a fancy dress competition and were styled by their owners chosen Christmas jumper.

The aim was to get all the dogs together, have a bit of fun and raise funds for The Red Foundation, an emergency dachshund rescue charity. ‘We raised about £300 which I’m really happy with.’

The event was organised by those who run the East Hants Dachshunds Facebook page and took place back in December at The Woodpecker Pub in Waterlooville.

‘We all went for a walk at Jubilee Park at the beginning of the event, with all the dogs in their fancy-dress outfits and Christmas jumpers. Sausage dogs are just so lovable, and you can never have enough. Everyone had a great time.’
