Many of the southern European economies were hit hard by the credit crisis and this led to substantial falls in real estate prices since 2006.

The economies in Spain and Portugal are now posting annual GDP growth and economic recovery is beginning to take hold.

Cyprus Residency Cyprus is one of the most affordable countries in Europe for residency through its golden visa programme. An investment of just €300,000 in real estate is required. Cyprus is outside the EU Schengen visa zone but is part of the EU
