Upon coming in contact with the schools staff its quiet obvious that all of the teachers and staff of Invest Collegiate are very much involved in the school. They will greet guests and extend warm welcomes to all who visit the school.

4 Time Grammy Winner Deniece Williams

Deniece Williams is a legendary music icon that has won 4 Grammy Awards for her songs and music. Exquisite Conglomerate Communications LLC had a chance to interview Ms. Williams a little more than a month ago and she had some very interesting things to say during our podcast. Ms. Williams is known for her “song bird” singing style that is recognized by her fans, and people who just love her music.

In the 1970s and 80s Deniece Williams created songs that still live on with us today. From the beginning Ms. Williams had a talent for being a creative singer. During our interview Ms. Williams credits her mother and father for being great singers and giving her the gift for being able to create impressive tunes that stay in our memories.

Ms. Williams also credits her cousin for helping her get into the entertainment industry. At the time of formally being introduced to the music industry Ms. Williams’ cousin knew Stevie Wonder and Stevie was making a name for himself as a premier Motown recording artist. “I didn’t believe that he really knew Stevie.

Everyone in Detroit was saying they knew Stevie Wonder, so it was hard to believe that he actually did know him”, Ms. Williams stated during our interview.

During the 1970s Ms. Williams sang with Stevie Wonder’s group Wonderlove. She was able to gain valuable experience and exposure with her talent by teaming up with the Wonderlove band. Eventually in 1975 Ms. Williams decided to go out on her own and she signed a contract with Columbia records to start off her solo artist career.

Ms. Williams went on to record a number 1 hit single in 1978 with signer Johnny Mathis. "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late" also topped the Black Singles and Adult Contemporary charts, and Ms. Williams was on her way to becoming an international sensation. Mr. Mathis and Ms. Williams also went on to record a most memorable tune for the American hit television series Family Ties “Without Us”. This song

has been etched into the minds of 1980s television comedy series lovers for more than 35 years, and the tune “Without Us� continues to attract younger audiences to watching reruns of the television show Family Ties.

Other pop tunes that Ms. Williams is known for signing include "It's Gonna Take a Miracle" and "Let's Hear It For The Boy". For both of these songs Ms. Williams was nominated to receive a Grammy Award, but unfortunately she did not win the award.

Although Ms. Williams is largely known as being a singer of pop and contemporary music she did not get the recognition that she deserves within these genres of music. It was the gospel music genre that finally rewarded Ms. Williams with 4 Grammy Awards. Ms. Williams won Grammys for the songs "I Surrender All", "They Say", "I Believe In You", and “This Is My Song”.

During our interview Ms. Williams also discussed her nonprofit organization that mentors kids that have interests in pursuing careers in the arts. The “Kids of Promise” program got started in Ms. Williams’ hometown of Gary, Indiana in the mid 2000s, and is being revitalized under the direction of Ms. Williams. The singer also spoke about her activities to hopefully collaborate her music with Alicia Keys and other wellknown signers that have emerged onto the pop music scene.

Ms. Williams also has a passion for jazz music and she is looking into recording a jazz album in the near future. Along with a whole host of activities Ms. Williams also plans to appear as a guest actress on various television programs when these opportunities present themselves.

It was a great experience to interview Ms. Williams before she embarked on her tour of the United Kingdom this past July. Ms. Williams will be back in the states and appearing in South Carolina and California during 2016.
