Hospitality Industry Review… Hospitality companies which cater to business professionals as their customers often pay special attention their service and dining atmosphere. A business is only as good as the service that it provides. Darden is a company made up of largely known restaurant chains, and they provide a customer experience like non other. It is really not by chance that an individual looking to grab a bite and have a business meeting, or just having a family gathering would be a proper thing to do at any of the Darden establishments. Restaurants like Longhorn Steakhouse and the Olive Garden are pretty much favorites for many, across the board. Service is excellent, food is spectacular, and the pricing is fair. In every way the customer gets what he or she is paying for.
Clarence Otis Jr. Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer
Clarence Otis Jr. has served as Chief Executive Officer of Darden Restaurants since November 2004 and Chairman of Darden’s Board of Directors since November 2005. Darden is the world's largest full-service restaurant operating company with annual sales of more than $8.5 billion. The company owns and operates more than 2,100 Red Lobster, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52, The Capital Grille, Eddie V’s and Yard House restaurants in North America, employs more than 200,000 people and serves more than 425 million meals annually. In 2013, Darden was named to the FORTUNE “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for the third year in a row. Clarence, 57, started at Darden in 1995, joining the company as Vice President and Treasurer and progressing to the position of Chief Financial Officer several years later. Prior to joining Darden, Clarence served as Managing Director and Manager of Public Finance for Chemical Securities, Inc. (now JP Morgan Securities, Inc.), capping an eleven year career in investment banking. A member of the New York Bar Association, Clarence earned a Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School and worked as a securities attorney in New York City for four years prior to beginning his career in financial services. He earned a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., where he was elected a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He currently serves as a member of the school’s Board of Trustees. Clarence also serves on the board of directors of VF Corporation, Verizon Communications, Inc. and the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. In 2012, Clarence received the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association's (IFMA) Silver Plate Award which recognizes outstanding achievement and innovation in the foodservice industry. And, in 2007, he was presented with a Horatio Alger Award and inducted as a lifetime member of the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans.
It isn’t really the menu selection that drives loyalists in droves to a Darden favorite, Red Lobster. The whole image behind each restaurant brand speaks quality, and if need be pricy.
With two progressive leaders on the executive team the company continues to grow and meet new expectations from customers. Both executives have impressive and extensive backgrounds which led them on their paths to eventually position themselves into leadership roles within Darden.
Will Setliff was named Chief Marketing Officer for Darden Restaurants in January 2013. A member of Darden’s Operating Team, Will is responsible for strengthening overall marketing, culinary and insights excellence and ensuring a strong foundation at each brand, elevating innovation to drive long-term growth, and directing Darden’s marketing talent strategy. Darden is the world's largest full-service restaurant operating company with annual sales of more than $8.5 billion. In 2013, Darden was named to the FORTUNE “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for the third year in a row. Previously, Will served as Executive Vice President of Marketing for Darden’s Specialty Restaurant Group (SRG). In that role, he served as SRG’s brand steward with responsibility for transforming consumer insights into a clear, compelling and distinct brand identity that delivered increased guest counts, improved margins and overall guest satisfaction. Will has more than 20 years of marketing experience across a variety of industries. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Marketing for Target. In this role, he held responsibility for brand and category marketing, designer partnerships, licensing, owned brand strategy, enterprise strategy and consumer insights. Earlier in his tenure at Target, Will also had responsibility for digital marketing and enterprise innovation.

Society, Politics, the Real Economy…
Times are tough and people are having a hard time saving portions of their earning to help them grow their nest eggs. That is pretty strange, because the FED Reserve hasn’t had a problem issuing new notes creating rapid rises in inflationary costs. Not only does the FED make things more expensive for Americans, they devalue the purchasing power of the lower 90% of the population. It is really hilarious watching some of the testimonies of the chairman of the Federal Reserve Board or the Secretary of the Federal Reserve Board on Capital Hill talking their non sense about how they know where the economy is going. Oh, and I suppose these officers are really laughing things up when they tell the public one thing and over the coarse of a 3 month period something else happens, something that was not expected.
People wouldn’t be so mad at our government if the truth were told that this fiat currency we are all spending isn’t even issue by our government at all. It is a complete scam where the government has its hands off the wheel and they let a back seat driver take control of the wheel. When the car crashes or has a major malfunction the government can simply just say they were not the experts in these matters and the “Central Bank” is the entity responsible for the damage. Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson both warned us all about the damages of putting in place a centralized banking system which encouraged grow by enhancing the need for more. We all have fallen victim to consumerism at one point or another, and in past few years like zombies we all blame it on our God given right to be patriotic. I suppose people just have the will to be overly enthusiastic and spend all of their disposable income on impulsive wants before they have a decent meal.
Common sense also tells us that spending more on some type of problem or issue will not cure the problem. The Federal Reserve captains would like us foolish consumers to think otherwise. The logic behind the madness suggests that the more us Americans are spending the better the economy is going to look for months to come. After all of the personal finance and economics of banking classes it still didn’t dawn on me how bad things could really get with these guys in control.
The multiple events and out of control deficits over the course of the last 10 years have truly opened my eyes to the reality of how the music is forced to keep on playing, but in reality the tune ended with the mortgage bust. Even in simple math zero multiplied by any number equals zero, but not in the complex world of banking manipulation.
In this world money is always created from nothing and consumers readily use this means of exchange to justify that they have a stake in whatever they are buying. In less complex terms people do not understand that they are purchasing less product per dollar they spend. They do not realize that they will eventually find themselves depending on credit to survive, especially since incomes among the bottom 90% of the population clearly are not rising at all.
This centralized banking system known as the Federal Reserve Banking System owes no one, nor the government an explanation of how it manufactures conjectured monetary policy. It is a very serious matter that we as citizens have allowed to happen right in front of our eyes. It is up to us now to break free of the policies which enslave the current and future generations of citizens. A real asset backed system must be reinstituted and delivered to allow for meaningful economic progress to take place.

After doing some research we recently came across a pretty neat documentary site which is filled with video archived libraries of information. People pretty much like to be able to view subjects throughout their lives in different ways. Help making that happen is this fully informative website with hundreds of videos on topics relative to our lives today. Seeing things differently is what makes us all different. These opportunities to learn from creative expressionism through videography inspire people to do more, learn more, and be more. This site presents people the opportunity to have versatile understandings about more than 25 subjects of reference. These days people really are in a hurry and they need to have visually informative information available to them all on one website. Our attention span hasn’t changed. We crave the simple things online and the more complex things take us through a learning process. Who would have thought that accessing a site with such simple point and click methods would hold the keys to very complex and controversial subject matters?

Some people may have seen a familiar face unveiling her new swimsuit line this past summer, as she presented an array of lively colors and designs. Elease Donovan had a chance to chat with the Digital Conglomerate Magazine about her business goals and ventures. From her season 8 appearances on the Oxygen Channel’s reality show Bad Girls Club Ms. Donovan is known for being one that takes the lead rather than follows. “I don’t keep in contact with the girls from the show, because they just aren’t on my level.” These are pretty strong words, but she is backing them up. Ms. Donovan has a clear eye for fashion and she is working the industry in unique ways. She really isn’t promoting her line in the traditional manner of displaying her designs on the fashion show circuits around the globe. She is pushing her designs to the public through creative marketing methods. It is just the competitive nature of Ms. Donovan’s branding style that is going to stand out.

Exclusive Interview…
Although Ms. Donovan’s swim wear line was the main topic and focus of the press panel she did manage to get some plugs in about her up coming tee shirt line. “When I come up with a design idea I am ecstatic and I get very productive.” Ms. Donovan seemed extremely excited to let us all know that she is dedicated to crafting quality design work. This talented business woman gave us some hints of her multi talented ambition, and is very open to opportunities doing acting, modeling work, or working as a Vj. She grew up immortalizing Kimora Lee Simmons as her idol and role model to follow. Staying ahead of the competition is the name of the game in the fashion industry. Ms. Donovan stays steps ahead by, “Getting down ideas and experimenting with fabrics. Everyday there is something new to discover, everyday there is something different to work with.” She has the do it now attitude and is motivated by staying focused on the ideas or tasks at hand. Like many who stay focused on reaching their goals Ms. Donovan has ambitions to be sitting on an empire within the next 10 years. Working hard and producing quality will probably get her there. your own creativity on a limitless scale is often accompanied by a drive and hunger for success so great it can never be ignored. Not by the person with their “eye on the prize” nor by the on lookers and nay sayers. We would like to introduce you to a young woman well on her way to being everything she ever set out to become. Being a woman has it challenges, but being a successful accomplished business woman is something else all together. We are going to explore a phenomenal woman on the rise and doing her thing! So we’ve set out to answer the question…Who Is Moni’soi Humes?
Pg. 19
Ouachita Parish, Louisiana born fashion designer, PR Agency Owner Moni’soi Humes takes time out of her very busy schedule to speak with us about how she began her journey as a woman on a path to greatness in the world of fashion and managing her own business. As a mother, business owner and art student, Moni’soi manages to balance it all with her faith and support of her family. At the young age of 9 Moni’soi found her passion for creativity and has been designing items for people since 2005.
Pg. 20
“My niche, luxury lifestyle branding”, Ms Humes creates a lot of products for children by hand, with hand-stitching and hand embroidery. “I love anything that includes me adding the value of a “luxurious lifestyle” to customers.” As for her creative inspiration she chooses designer, CoCo Chanel who is by far her favorite fashion icon. She told a story to many women. “She came from nothing, yet she created a legacy that many women and men would soon be inspired by. She put the black in fashion; you must love her for that.”
Moni’so has been, through her own trials to make it and tells us it hasn’t been easy, but she has managed to push through in order to see her dreams come to life. “I have experienced a lot of pain, days when I wanted to give up and quit, but there was this hope on the inside of me that would never go away. It is very lonely when you are building and when people don’t understand what is required of you in order for you to succeed.”
Self described as having a huge heart Moni’soi says she gets her caring spirit and humbleness from her grandmother Sarah Humes. There is only but so much one person can go though. Being the dedicated professional, talented designer that she is, of course there needs to be a team to help move things along. “I have an awesome team of people that I work with in Atlanta, GA., Middle GA. Area, New Orleans, and Omaha, Nebraska. I love them all, without having a team to achieve it makes it more difficult and for so long there is a lot that I have done alone. But I believe that others will not do for your brand, until they see you do all that you can for your brand.”
Together she and her team build the Moni’soi Humes brand exclusively through her own company –RBR PR & Advertising. But it’s not all glitz and glamour…There is always lots to be done, right! Her biggest project to date was working with Atlanta International Fashion Week. She says this about the industry and event, “There are a lot of behind the scene challenges that people do not see that go on. Models rehearse that is one part, designers create that is another, but as far as working on the team it all has to be done and completed.” Ms. Humes takes us behind the scenes, sharing with us some of the unknown events that may take place in the world of fashion. “You are talking about nights with no sleep, and some days with a few hours of rest. If you are going to pursue a field in the industry be prepared for nights with no rest, and be prepared to get sleep when you can, because you are on call 24-7.” Pg. 21
Ms. Humes is an author as well and has written a book; “Success is what you make it.” She says she wrote her book to shed some light on the many pitfalls one may encounter while ambitiously reaching to fulfill their dreams and explores ways on how to overcome them. We are sure to see more from Ms Humes in the future and wish her the best in all that she has accomplished and has yet to conquer. Is Sexy Business Often Misunderstood As Risky Business?
By Garland L. McLaughlin Finding the right formula to mix business and pleasure often sounds like a temptation that can lead to trouble, in our business and personal lives. Some may say that this formula lacks a solid foundation that can hold positive and meaningful relationships together. Others can argue that they simply haven’t had problems in their lives by having a little bit of fun on the side or working hard then on the weekend playing as well. All of these ideas work for some people some of the time, but never for all of the people all the time. It is more important to realize that if one is going to have a little fun they should know their boundaries. Having the super hero attitude or being wound up too tight often will cause people to encounter confrontational situations. Finding the proper balance between what is risky and what business needs to be handled is the right solution for mixing both ideas. There are plenty of clients out there that prefer to grab a meal and then head to the bar or exotic lounge filled with tempting maidens. The key to it all is just to handle the business; everyone involved is just trying to have a little fun. Handing this distraction of having scantily clothed women serving beverages at the bar or restaurant is sometimes just a test to see if the consultant is really paying attention to the clients needs. Not falling for the trap says more than enough to a client, and more often acting in another manner can leave the client questioning a consultant’s judgment. Pg. 26
It is highly unlikely that one person isn’t going to make a fool of their self if they go out with a few of their coworkers and have a few drinks after work. No, it is not possible that all of them will behave themselves or refrain from the flirty temptations of curiosity. Pretty much every Tuesday through Saturday; and even on Monday at a really popular venue some guy over tips the stripper or some young women has a little too much to drink. Later on that week when these people begin to have their regrets for their actions they will remember back to what got them in bind their in now. Some people like to spend plenty of money to show they are having a great time and to get their point across to a client that they know how to make the client have a good time too. So when we think about business and pleasure in this fashion it works, but it could carry negative results within the business relationship, and it certainly should not spill over into personal relationships. Being able to draw the line and not go past the line is they key to using this type of work and play scenario as a productive tool. Socializing is the key to developing business and establishing interests that are beneficial for both businesses to clients and businesses to businesses. At events people tend to mix the business and pleasure technique quite well. Being able to let loose in a social setting, but still have the understanding that staying focused and create opportunities is at the forefront of the agenda. People are going to do what they want to do, and nine times out of ten they have preplanned out there objective when something tempting comes to mind. Keeping control and enjoying the eye candy keeps anyone from looking like a fool.

Exclusive Interview By Garland L. McLaughlin
Artist Tiffany Foxx has a great career ahead of her as a rap artist who has gained insight on the game and on how she delivers her entertaining rhymes. As the protégé of the well known artist Little Kim; Tiffany Foxx just stands out among other up and coming stars. I like Ms. Foxx’s style, she admits that the lane which she is creating for herself really doesn’t involve having any competition. Ms. Foxx states, “I keep it real and talk about the issues the industry doesn’t like to see females talking about. I stick up for myself in this male dominated industry.” Her attitude is simple, and down to earth. The conversation gave me more insight to an artists struggle and perseverance, this made room for some really cool responses during our Q and A session. In such a short period from linking up with Little Kim 5 years ago Ms. Foxx has been able to put in motion a series of tracks, collaborations, and a whole movement. “I’ve been working on a number of things the Yellow Tape, Gold Diggers Mix Tape, Gold Diggers Mix Tape II, performing on the Gold Diggers Tour, and pushing the Gold Diggers Movement: Gold On Another Level.”
Pg. 28
The phone interview was really going in the right direction so I felt comfortable I grabbed a quick snack only to hear Ms. Foxx say, “Oh My Goodness!” I though that her reaction was based upon the fact that she could probably hear light crunching sounds in her ear, but this wasn’t the reason for her excited response. She was responding to my question about her exciting hair style. I asked her how has the decision to style her hair the way she does influence her image. “I decided to cut off all my hair and dye it blonde 3 years ago, but I’m over it now.” Ms. Foxx calls her hairstyle, “Bipolar”, turning a controversial subject into an image make over. It definitely works well and captivates attention from fans and newcomers alike. Ms. Foxx broke the whole story down of how most of her close family members are all involved in cosmetology in one way or another. They would definitely be of much help when it is time to get styled for a video shoot. This leads me to believe that Miss Foxx will never wear a style that just wouldn’t look appealing on her. She also has been influenced in such a way that she can always design a style that looks different and trendy.
As a native of St. Louis, Missouri its clear that she has the “Show Me State” mentality down to a science. Show and prove is the name of the game. For most people showing their talents with confidence can be a challenge. Some folks may get pretty discouraged when they can’t seek guidance and encouragement from loved ones. Its hard to just keep going on the path and direction to get to your dream when a family member says, “Your dreams is not going to pay the bills.” Showing and proving is the name of the game and Ms. Tiffany Foxx has shown and proven in most unexpected ways. Family has come around to supporting her as she has been true to her passion as being an artist of longevity.
Lastly we talked a little bit about some of her healthy habits and tips that keep her in shape and looking great. “I don’t eat red meat and I have to work out just like anyone else. I don’t drink juice and I drink a lot of water. I definitely STAY AWAY FROM THAT RED BEEF, but anyone that knows that I love French fries.” That was a great way to end the interview, just make me hungry for something more than just a snack. Staying healthy can be a challenge in today’s world with many people not having enough income to maintain a balanced lifestyle. Yet there are various ways that work within any ones budget, it may require research, creativity and more self awareness, but it isn’t impossible. We are all different in the things that are required to ensure we function at healthy levels. Here are some tips to help stay on track: 1. Get adequate sleep around 6-8 hours. REM or Rapid Eye Movement is very important for our body to repair, rest and rejuvenate from the activities of the day. This is a deep resting period that is critical in the quality of our health and lives 2. Exercise 20-30 minutes a day. Taking a brisk walk it great on the body and helps to reduce stress and sleeplessness, especially after a large meal. 3. Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. About 8oz per glass. Water cleanses the body and helps to break down food, aiding in digestion. 4. Laugh! Laughter is truly the best medicine, so chuck it up with a friend or watch your favorite comedian for a great belly laugh. Oh and laughing also keeps you younger looking and more fun to be around! 5. Take the dog for a run in the park or in your neighborhood. 6. Play with the kiddies, kids have lots of energy and you need a lot too keep up with them. This will force you to be a big kid again yourself. 7. Eat lots of fruits and veggies, don’t forget about your protein. 8. Don’t neglect your mental health as well. Many men don’t like to share their emotions so don’t be shy to call on a relative or close friend if you need to get something off of your chest. 9. Meditation can also be a great way to de-stress from a long day. 10. Get regular check-ups. Having a doctor is an awesome way to know if you are the right track or not. The doc can also give you advice if you are thinking of trying a new exercise program or diet.
Pg. 32
With all this talk about health care in the media, in our neighborhoods, and all over the globe there can often times be some confusion on whether or not to get health insurance or where to find it. The cost of even the most basic medicines and doctor office visits can be very pricy, but the benefits of preventative care measures have been proven to be well worth the cost it in the long run. Many men dread going to the doctors office, out of cost, fear or plain stubbornness, faith may also play a major role in the decision to not be poked and prodded in a cold unfamiliar room by a man/woman they’ve never encountered before. But, are these real and valid reasons for putting yourself at risk? Keeping your health under control is a way of expressing love for yourself, family, and career. Think about it, they depend on you in many ways. Emotional, financial, spiritual support or just play time and relaxing together. Whatever it is you need to be capable of performing at your peak throughout the course of your life and theirs as well. The medical field has many options today for holistic or natural remedies for ailments and chronic conditions. So it’s not always an issue of even going to a traditional clinical setting. Though most alternative health facilities do not accept insurance due to the health insurance industry’s policies which decline to cover their services. Here are a few resources that may prove helpful to questions about men’s health: http://www.menshealthnetwork.org/ http://www.cdc.gov/men/ Pg. 32
Business Technology Review‌
The makers of ACT sure know what they are doing getting their product to market just before tax season. We will enjoy working with them to evaluate their newest solution for CRM and CRM management capabilities‌ Contatta.
Contatta gives anyone the ability to make connections through their social media applications and other communications devices. This gives the user fluid availability to contact friends, business associates, or family members. The platform does have a lot of promise and boasts an executive staff with over 60 combined years in developing CRM software solution applications.
ACT was one of the first well recognized offline applications which businesses could use to manage a database of potential customers or manager their relationships with customers. The program is fairly simple to learn, but installing it to work in conjunction with a server was the real headache. In most cases office workers would become accustomed to logging onto their servers and performing tasks to manage and update their ACT databases. This is precisely the reason why some of the creators of ACT have created Contatta, this program operates completely online. This solution is sure to be a winner. The developers have keen insights into knowing exactly what people should expect from a custom contact management solution.
Streamlining is the way to manage contact efficiently, and being efficient means everything in business communications. The regular folks aren’t left out of having opportunities either. Contatta is a great way for connections to happen in real life situations. Instead of relying on logging into social media platforms individually to connect with friends or love ones individuals can now use Contatta. Somehow Contatta has mastered the formula of streamlining communications capabilities through multiple social media channels and personal methods of communication. It would be pretty hard to live without Contatta.

JUMIO has come up with a great device to help businesses convert more customers through their online checkout process. It is about time that a company out there has put actual analytics to work to discover that the current process some companies are using is old, out dated, and can’t hold the attention of prospective buyers. Most people think of the online checkout and shopping experience as something that should be quite automatic. In reality JUMIO makes that happen by allowing individuals to use their smart phones and tablets as a checkout portal to make online purchases.

Wired inspiration comes from the tapping of the keys and occasional sip of the beverage. Many times I have done this before, but never could I imagine that the words and technical applications come together with such life. It was only a few hours ago that I was resting up and only thinking about how I was going to deliver all of the little bits of creative synthesis to the masses without having a network hiccup. Pg. 40
Too many authors want to be code writers and code writers don’t like writing novels… at least that is what most of them say. Being a part of both worlds is sort of like experiencing different or multiple JAVA syrups for every cup of coffee one may drink. It isn’t a jittery feeling it is more like the flavor best described as “In The Zone”, the relaxation of just letting it all flow helps me be most efficient in carrying out tasks.
Certainly the atmosphere always has its effect on the senses. On many instances people would walk up to me while I was enjoying my JAVA TALK with the cosmos of a world filled with file sharing components. It would only be so natural that they wanted to share their photography with me and among friends online. Sure, I would upload the image which reflected a smile from a quaint and familiar local establishment which had the best JAVA in town.
Back to the gaming side of things, this is only another form of relaxation that I mastered in my teenage years. Only now the difference is I am an adult exploring the gaming options and analyzing the entertainment features. These moments of long drawn out gaming don’t really take me back mentally to a time of carefree satisfaction. Sometimes the distractions of the real world need to be told to the developers who invent such time consuming interaction. Well, everyone must be able to drift off to their place of solace every once and awhile.
