Wonston Community Café
by TheDever
Following a week of record-breaking temperatures, our July café was held on a pleasantly milder sunny day. Visitors enjoyed their coffee and cakes outside in the sunshine as well as inside in the cool of the hall. This month we had many new visitors rescue service in the UK and Ireland, and seasonal lifeguards look after people on busy beaches. In addition, the RNLI Flood Rescue Team helps those affected by flooding. from neighbouring Micheldever, as well as the local knitting group. £246 was raised for our charity, Winchester Bereavement Support. Rosemary and Angela from the charity attended and spoke to many of our visitors about the work of the charity. The kitchen was busy all morning, with Melinda, one of our founding volunteers, in charge of the tea/coffee making!
