No decision has yet been made on the number or location of new homes across Winchester District. The City Council is discussing ideas with Parish Councils and City Councillors. This might allocate enough land for 3,000 new homes, with half being added to the larger development areas and market towns, such as Whiteley and Alresford. Most of the others would be allocated to Sir John Moore Barracks (800 new homes), Otterbourne (50-60), South Wonston (50-60) and Sutton Scotney (50-60). Consideration will now be given to where it might be possible to build this number of new homes around these settlements, discussing the issues and options with residents, with a decision due later this year. Please contribute to these discussions, so all views can be included.

be no certainty. One major issue is still not in the open – that of the number of houses the City Council will allocate to meet the needs of neighbouring authorities that do not have enough available land. We have also not heard any ideas for where new employment sites might be allowed. However, for now, it seems that the next Local Plan should not allow development around Micheldever or Micheldever Station. The City Council are pressing ahead with the sale of the old Leisure Centre at River Park, despite calls from local residents for more consultation. The University of Southampton will be working on their plans over the next year or so before a price is set. It is great to see pledge cards appearing in windows for the Greening Micheldever campaign. We hope to see these appearing in South Wonston and Sutton Scotney over the coming weeks. You can contact your City Councillors at any time or you can catch us at any of the Parish Council meetings. Their next meetings are on: Micheldever PC Wednesday 6th April The Warren Centre. Wonston PC Tuesday 12th April Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney. South Wonston PC Monday 11th April South Wonston Pavilion. All meetings start at 7.30pm.
