welcome… The Stansted Business Forum has now been running for four years, and we have been publishing this Directory for over two. Stansted Business Forum, better known simply as the ‘SBF’, is run in partnership with the Parish Council and supported by Uttlesford District Council. It has made a huge impact in and around Stansted, an example of this, is this Directory. We have had to limit the size of this directory as demand is very high for advertising space. We print 3,500 copies and distribute it to every house in Stansted. This allows the local community to access local and trusted suppliers of goods and services, whilst supporting the thematic approach of the SBF – “think local, buy local”. We are looking forward to a bumper Summer Fayre this year (see back page) and anybody, yes anybody, can sell their goods and wares – whether a one man band or an established business. Stalls are supplied and are just £30 per pitch. Interested? Then contact Peter James on 01279 813318. Over the coming few weeks, we will be delivering a leaflet to every home in ‘Help deci Stansted. The leaflet de the. .future of Stansted . .Mountfitc will have information het’. on neighbourhood planning, together with a Housing Needs Survey. This survey is an important part of the Neighbourhood Planning process. It allows the team to form a more accurate picture of what local people’s housing requirements are as opposed to people coming from outside the area. It is very important that you and others in your household fill it in – especially in households where young people are still living at home but would like their own place, or where people are sharing but would like to live separately. It also asks whether you would ideally like to move to a larger or smaller home. It doesn’t matter whether you own your home or rent, the survey is still relevant to you. All personal data and information is only taken for statistical purposes and is kept confidential – it is never shared with either the Council or the Neighbourhood Plan team. The team will be attending a number of events and other activities in Stansted throughout the summer where you can find out more about the plan’s progress. ou may already be aware that Stansted Mountfitchet Parish Council, in conjunction with local volunteers, is creating a Neighbourhood Development Plan for the village. A Neighbourhood Plan is one of the only ways that the community can have a say in the development of their area. It allows people to decide, for example, what that development should look like, what additional infrastructure will be needed to support that development, and what green spaces need to be protected.

All change in the property market
T
he Chancellor, George Osborne, has announced a number of measures in the Budget that will impact the property market. He confirmed that there will be a 3% stamp duty surcharge on the purchase of second homes and buy-to-let properties – this will apply from April 1. “The move will ultimately hurt first-time buyers through higher house prices” He also announced that larger investors will not be exempt from the stamp duty changes. This means that all purchasers of buy-to-let properties will pay the additional tax. One can understand the Chancellor’s prudence and it could turn out to be a shrewd move, but it will annoy
landlords who will feel victimised The move will ultimately hurt firsttime buyers through higher house prices. Tenants will also see higher rents as landlords try to recoup their losses. Extending the tax cut to buy-to-let properties would have been an incentive for more investors to sell. This would have increased the supply of properties to the market – this is something that we desperately need as there is a big shortage of houses on the market. Only time will tell what this round of changes does to the property market. i, I’m Steve French and I’m the Director of Box Bear Pictures Ltd. I’ve been shooting and producing films for over 15 years and I love the process of creating. We have produced a lot of different content for a lot of different people and businesses. This is one of the best things about what I do; the variety. Let me tell you about the different things that I have been involved with in just the past week. I zipped over to Brussels on the Eurostar to interview three professors in the field of pneumonia. We captured what these opinion leaders had to say about some study papers and then we edited them into short, punchy messages that our client can now use in a myriad different ways. I spent the weekend filming two music videos for a progressive rock band called Big Big Train. First we shot the performance aspects of the two songs that we were there to capture. The next day involved up to 70 of the band’s fans involved in a choreographed

routine and some artistic shots to add to the video. We will now pull all the footage together and deliver two engaging videos for the band to use in their marketing and launch of their latest album release. Just yesterday, I was shooting what we call B Roll for a documentary that I am a co-producing with my colleagues at Ghost Pictures, a company that I collaborate a lot with currently.
