Superior: Cattleman’s Club Steakhouse Excellence: Chef Louie’s Steakhouse & Lounge Cattleman’s Club Steakhouse 601 E Norway Ave 990-2222 The story of the Cattleman’s Club Steakhouse begins on a ranch in the Big Bend area about 25 miles downriver from Pierre. Myril Arch, founder of the Cattleman’s Club Steakhouse, discovered he had been born to cook while feeding hay crews that worked the ranch. All the workers loved his steaks. He opened the doors of the original Cattleman’s Club in February 1986 just outside of Pierre. Myril attributed the success to his commitment as a lifelong resident in the area, his numerous friends and of course the juicy, perfectly seasoned, mouthwatering steaks.

In 2014 Cindy and long-time family friend Justin Laird opened a second location in Mitchell, SD. Both locations use the same family recipes and cooking standards that Myril put into place decades ago. They only serve choice Black Angus beef that’s aged in house and hand cut daily.

Our mission is to grill perfect steaks. We are proud and thankful for our loyal fans who have voted us Best Steak for the 4th straight year.

Josh Kranz has spent his career pursuing excellence as a chef. An MTI alumnus, he returned to Mitchell Tech in 2012 to teach in the Culinary Academy. His expertise and talent have taught dozens of graduates the skill and art of food preparation.

Chef Tim joined the Culinary Academy of South Dakota in Fall 2017. Making the transition from food service director to chef instructor was “really fun and interesting.” He has embraced working with menu ideas and flavor development. Chef Tim is amazed at the number of diners he has met this year. He spends time talking with patrons and passing feedback along to students, helping them to grow. What he likes most about being a chef instructor is experiencing the moment when someone, student or diner, “takes that first bite. The look of enjoyment on their face is what we strive for.” Tim looks forward to hosting even more Mitchell area customers in the Oak Room next school year.
