The countdown was on,

a few weeks ‘til the big night.

Santa inspected the toys.

Everything had to be right.

Dolls, puzzles, yo-yos and planes.

Teddy bears, bicycles, board games and trains.

Each one had a name, wrapping and bow.

All lined up and ready to go.

At first was a clank followed next by a boom. !

K N The sound was so loud CLA it shook the entire room.

The machines making toys came to a halt.

Elves scurried to find the cause, but it was nobody’s fault.

Soon every elf in Santa’s workshop started to panic.

Elves hustled and bustled in a manner most frantic.

What would they do?

There weren’t enough presents and there was no time to lose.

Santa spoke loudly and tried to quell all of their fears, “We’ve always had enough toys.

We’ve managed for years.”

He said, “Don’t worry my friends.

Please, have no more fear.

I’ll simply shop in Worthington and bring the gifts here.”

The elves’ frowns turned to smiles.

Their cries transformed into glee.

“Worthington can save Christmas.

Why yes, yes indeed.”

Santa grabbed his list and went to his sleigh.

When the reindeer were hitched they were soon on their way.

Flying a long distance straight through the night, Worthington was just ahead in the morning’s early light.

Santa landed the sleigh and took a look around.

It was just how he remembered -Humiston Avenue and downtown.

But along Oxford appeared a new place since last he’d touched down.

Marthaler Chevrolet had lots of cars, trucks and vans.

Much easier for transport than his reindeer clan.

Abra Quality Auto Body agreed to spruce up the sleigh.

Soon Santa was off to seize the day.

Santa then drove to Sanford Worthington to see the doc while in town.

His doctor said he could stand to lose a few pounds.

Santa received a clean bill of health and he was off on his way to help out each elf.
