1311 4th Avenue Worthington, MN The Historic Dayton House is a genuine showcase of Worthington’s early days. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This magnificent house was built in 1890 by George Draper Dayton. He arrived in Worthington in 1883 and recognizing Worthington’s potential, helped establish a thriving agricultural community. In 1902, the family left Worthington to pursue a mercantile business in Minneapolis which later became Dayton’s Dry Goods Company, or simply Dayton’s. The house was purchased by Historic Worthington, Inc., an organization formed to preserve local historic buildings. Through thoughtful donations, this legendary home has been preserved for future generations.
