As he puzzled the thought, stroking his chin, Suddenly his frown turned to a grin.

“I’ll buy them each presents, that’s what I’ll do, and something special for Mrs. Claus too.” To pull off his plan, he’d have to be slick. Flying through the sky was no trouble for St. Nick.

He’d have to gather up the reindeer and hitch up the sleigh.

But when he went to find them, most had run off to play.

Santa spied Rudolph sitting close by. Despite a cold, he still wanted to fly.

Santa and Rudolph disappeared into the night. But each time Rudolph sneezed, his nose lost its light.

Though a bit worried, Santa pressed on.

He wanted to get back before very long.

It started with a wheeze, a cough in the breeze.

And then Rudolph followed it with a ginormous sneeze.

AHH-CHOOOOOOOO! His red nose stopped glowing And Santa could no longer see.

Was the path clear before him Or did he just miss a tree?

He pulled the reins left.

He pulled the reins right.

Off in the distance, he saw city lights.

Rudolph began to fly down, down, down.

But without his light, the sleigh crashed to the ground.

“Are you OK?” asked Santa.

Rudolph nodded in reply.

“Where are we?” Santa asked and looked for a sign.

“Worthington.” he said, “This place looks quite fine.

“Let’s hope we can fix our sleigh and get back home on time.”

Santa started to walk to his first place to shop, When he saw Rudolph’s step had lost a bit of its hop.

He then touched his forehead, which was burning red hot.

“We need to get you to the doctor, whether you want to or not.”

Santa and Rudolph arrived at Sanford Worthington Medical Center.

Instead of making fun, they let poor Rudolph enter.

They whisked Rudolph off to a room Telling Santa he’d need to stay ‘til late afternoon.

O Christmas Tree Each year, volunteers decorate the White House from top to bottom for Christmas. The centerpiece is the official White House tree. Since 1929, the First Lady has been in charge of decorating the tree.

The tree is much too large for the First Lady to decorate all by herself. A lot of volunteers help her.

Some make ornaments to go with the theme she has chosen. Others hang the ornaments on the tree. When First Lady Pat Nixon decided to have an American Flower Tree in 1969, a group of disabled workers in Florida made the state flower ornaments.

It takes hundreds of volunteers to turn the White House into a holiday showcase. Every year, they give it their all, as the First Lady looks on with pride.
