Itinerary

Day 1

TRAVEL TO COLOGNE AND EMBARK A-ROSA AQUA

DEPART 18.00

Fly or take the train from the UK to Cologne and transfer to your A-ROSA ship. If time, explore the city, where you will find a good selection of museums and the famous cathedral which dominates the skyline. Tonight, enjoy an included welcome dinner.

Day 2 RÜDESHEIM

ARRIVE 11.00, DEPART 18.00

After a morning sailing on the scenic Upper Middle Rhine we arrive at UNESCO World Heritage Rüdesheim which has for centuries been renowned the world over for its outstanding wines. Among its highlights is the Drosselgasse, an alleyway filled with quaint half-timbered taverns.

Day 3

GERMERSHEIM (SPEYER)

ARRIVE 08.00, DEPART 19.00

Today, we sail through the historical heart of Europe with picture-perfect sights, terraced vineyards, expansive forests and high peaks. Spend the day in the relaxed riverside town of Germersheim or opt to travel to nearby Speyer, once centre of the Holy Roman Empire.

Day 4 BREISACH

ARRIVE 11.00, DEPART 24.00

Perched on a steep cliff above the Rhine, pastel-hued Breisach is set in rolling vineyards. The area marks where the Black Forest spills into the Alsace. Take an optional guided walking tour including a visit to a local champagne cellar with tastings.

Day 5 BASEL

ARRIVE 08.00, DEPART 19.30

Uniquely positioned where France, Germany and Switzerland meet, Basel retains a strong and proud identity, with a thriving arts scene and bilingual culture. Explore more of Switzerland on our optional excursions.

Day 6 STRASBOURG

ARRIVE 11.30, DEPART 18.00

Cologne

The capital of the Grand Est region, formerly known as Alsace, Strasbourg sits on the border of Germany, France and Switzerland. Take a leisurely stroll to the canals of Petit France and magnificent Strasbourg Cathedral. Centuries ago, this was the tallest building in the world with views stretching as far as the Black Forest, some 30km away.

MAINZ, THE LORELEI VALLEY & KOBLENZ

KOBLENZ ARRIVE 18.30, DEPART 21.30

This evening, we arrive in Koblenz at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle. Wrapped in the scenic surrounds and rich history of the UNESCO-listed Upper Middle Rhine Valley. Enjoy an included guided city tour and highlight culinary experience on board.

Day 8

DISEMBARK COLOGNE ARRIVE 05.00

Disembark after breakfast and be transferred to the airport or station for your return journey to the UK. Alternatively, add a few extra days in the city - ask for more details.
