Chill on Mill promotes Saturday sidewalk sale Creemore BIA is planning a Chill on Mill Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, Sept. 4 as a last hoorah this summer. Businesses are encouraged to put out tables at businesses along Mill Street and the commercial portion of Caroline Street West between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The street will be closed to vehicles during that time to allow shoppers to stroll and peruse while maintaining physical distancing.

Greens link climate action with social, economic health by Trina Berlo Simcoe-Grey Green Party of Canada candidate Nick Clayton launched his campaign in Collingwood Sunday with support from Green Party provincial leader and Guelph MPP Mike Schreiner. The Greens are focussing on a growing housing crisis and how the unsustainable housing market is contributing to poverty, homelessness, an overall decline in health and emissions. They link the climate crisis with affordable housing, claiming that creating sustainable and affordable housing would be better for the planet

Coyotes secure top-notch coach by Trina Berlo Creemore’s new Senior AA team has signed ex-NHLer Sylvain Clouthier as coach. “Boys, we have a top notch coach,” Creemore Coyotes president Tom Macham told members of the team gathered at his home for a recent signing party. “This guy’s the real deal. We will be playing against teams that don’t have near this calibre of coach.” According to his career history, Cloutier played junior hockey for the Guelph Storm (OHL) from 1991 to 1994, scoring 237 points, 106 goals while also serving as team captain. He was drafted 70th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1992 NHL entry draft and spent the next four seasons playing in the AHL for the Adirondack Red Wings but never made Detroit’s main lineup. He went on to play seven NHL games for the Chicago Blackhawks in the 19981999 season. Cloutier joined the Coventry Blaze of the United Kingdom’s Elite Ice Hockey League in 2006 and helped

and people, helping to reduce poverty and improving health. “We have an unsustainable housing stock here in Simcoe-Grey,” said Clayton, “and it’s getting worse as people move out of urban centres – because of the pandemic they’re working from home – that’s an issue that needs to be addressed through strong coordination between the municipalities, the province and federally.” As someone who is passionate about (See “Green” on page 3)
