Foundation proceeds with TD tear-down

Man charged with sexual assault on children

by Trina Berlo Following a community consultation process, the Creemore Community Foundation is proceeding with a plan to demolish the TD Bank and expand the park. The community was called to a third meeting about the fate of the TD Bank building on March 30, this time to listen to the outcome of two community consultation sessions which captured the interest and imagination of residents. During two workshops people packed into Station on the Green to participate in visioning and brainstorming sessions for the TD Bank property and the village as a whole. A clear consensus on whether or not the building should be torn down was not reached but there were strong opinions on both sides of the debate. The TD Lands Community Consultation Committee (TLC) recommendation reads, TLC recommends specific supporting

Police received a report of an unknown male approaching children in the park located on Greenwood Drive in Angus on March 21. The man approached a group of 12-year-old girls in the park and engaged the kids in conversation. He asked the girls if they wanted to play a game and would in turn give them money. The girls declined, left the area and reported the incident to a parent who called 911. The male left the area in a black Chevrolet sedan car, dirty, with a fin and a loud muffler. Shortly after, the male was observed back in the area by a nearby resident on Greenwood Drive, engaging in conversation with a second group of children. Police located and arrested him. After further police investigation, 31-year-old Anthony Holtorf of Clearview Township was charged with two counts each of Criminal Harassment, Sexual Assault on Female Under and Abduction of Person Under 16. The accused has been released from custody and will attend a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford. If there is anyone who has been involved in a similar occurrence, they are ask to contact the Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit at 705-434-1939.

Easter celeb makes appearance by Trina Berlo Hey kids, the Easter Bunny is coming to Creemore. The bunny will be making a special appearance in the village on Easter weekend at the invitation of darcique and Emily Fischl. Police responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 26 in Clearview just after midnight on March 23. Police located the vehicle and quickly determined that the driver was operating it while under the influence of alcohol. Thomas Lascelles, 34, from Port Carling, has been charged with Adult operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, and Adult Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). His first appearance in Collingwood court is April 23.
