Bondfield library build delayed by Trina Berlo The library construction project in Stayner is about seven weeks behind schedule due to the financial woes of contractor Bondfield Construction Company. Bondfield Construction Company was in the news recently for construction delays on several big projects, including Union Station, cost overruns and delays in paying sub-contractors. Some projects have been terminated. The new branch of the Clearview Public Library, being built as an addition to the Stayner arena, is about seven weeks behind schedule, said Clearview Township CAO Steve Sage. He said he met with Bondfield officials and contractors have been returning to the site. “As far as they’re concerned the project is a go, the company is not bankrupt, they are not in receivership (See “New” on page 3)

Work continues at the Stayner library building site, despite newly reported problems for the construction company, Bonfield. Financial problems have resulted in a delay for the Stayner project, but no cost overruns yet.
Attempted murder charges laid after hit-and-run Huronia West OPP, under the direction of Detective Inspector Paul Rosato of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), is investigating a hit-and-run investigation which occurred on Brock Road in Clearview Township, on Sept. 13. A 19-year-old male was struck by a vehicle and transported to a trauma centre in Toronto in serious condition. As a result of the investigation, 19-year-old Isaiah Crawley of Clearview Township has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences: Adult Attempt to Commit Murder; Adult Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm; and Adult Aggravated Assault. The accused was taken into custody before appearing in Barrie court on Sept. 17 to answer to the charges.

The fall fair takes place at the Great Northern Exhibition in Clearview Township this weekend, Sept. 21-23. In its 163rd year, the fair includes a weekend packed with entertainment, a fiddle and step dance contest, truck and tractor pull, livestock and midway. The fairgrounds open at 9 a.m. each day, closing Friday and Saturday at 10 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. Admission costs $10 for adults 13 years and older, youth aged 6-12 get in for $4 and children five years and younger are admitted free.
