Local champs Creemore’s Atom rep team is celebrating a stellar season with two big wins.

The team has had only one loss all season, with 37 wins and three ties, said coach John Millsap.

On March 18, the team clinched the OMHA championship on home ice in front of a standing room only crowd before being paraded through town by the fire department.

For the win, Creemore defeated West Lorne three games straight.

Scoring for Creemore in the final series, were Luke Millsap with six goals, Brody Coe with four, Griffin MacIntyre, Brady Reynolds, Miles Millar and Brent Thomson all with one.

Creemore also won the Georgian Bay championships defeating the Elmvale Coyotes in two games, with a 4-1 victory in Game 1 on March 15 in Creemore and 3-0 in Game 2 on March 21 in Elmvale.

Scoring for the series was Brody Coe with four goals, Miles Millar, Miles Dempsey and Griffin MacIntyre with one each.

On March 18, Honeywood travelled to Arthur for Game 4 of the OHMA finals. Up two games to one, Honeywood was looking to capture the championship.

Arthur came out strong taking an early lead in the first period.

Honeywood answered back in the second. Starting the third both teams came out fighting, both taking some penalities then Honeywood took the lead and was able to hold Arthur off to win the championship.

ATV advocates take another run at road access

by Trina Berlo In September, Clearview council said no to ATVs accessing township roads.

This week, Central Ontario ATV Club director Soren Klemmensen was back to ask councillors to reconsider.

The ask: In collaboration with council, staff and the club to create an ATV bylaw “facilitating the creation of an environmentally sustainable trail system connecting people and communities while creating tourism opportunities in Clearview Township.”

Klemmensen told council that in the six months since council considered the request, the not-forprofit club has grown by more than 200 members and has a focus on

safety and sustainability. He said the trails are insured and patrolled by offduty OPP officers and trail wardens affiliated with the club. The trails are developed and maintained by the club.

The dream, said Klemmensen, is to connect developing trails in the area of Penetanguishene, Midland, Elmvale and Wasaga Beach to Collingwood and beyond through Clearview. They hope to provide trail connections and access to restaurants, accommodation, shops and gas stations in the township to promote tourism all year.

In September, a split vote defeated a staff recommendation to approve the use of all roads in Clearview Township, with some exceptions.

Deputy Mayor Barry Burton responded to Councillor Deborah

Bronée’s request for the September report to be brought back to council, saying other options should be included.

“I think we need to do a little more work. I am in favour of finding a solution that works for everyone,” said Burton. “I will not support carte blanche access to all roads.”

The staff recommendation was based on public input at an information session and the results of a survey.

From May to June, 764 surveys were completed, 117 of those were discounted because they were completed by non-residents. Sixty per cent of respondents were ATV owners and 51.8 per cent said ATVs should be allowed on all public roads, 29.2 per cent said they should not be

allowed on public roads and 19 per cent said they should be allowed on some public roads.

Councillor Thom Paterson said although many people will say they are not fussy about ATV traffic they’ll say they recognize it as a recreational activity and will understand the benefit of accessing services. He said the township should go through another public process.

“It is a fairly complicated process to plan a trail system,” said Paterson.

Councillor Kevin Elwood said he would like to see a plan of possible routes presented to the community and he would like to see a framework developed including clear criteria for how roads are chosen, considering shoulder width for example.

Youth centre to hire contract coordinator

by Trina Berlo Clearview council has agreed to hire a coordinator for its new youth centre on a four-month contract. “ We a r e t r y i n g t o c r e a t e consistency,” said Deputy Mayor Barry Burton at the March 6 council meeting.

Burton, who spearheaded the youth centre, said the youth services committee, which manages the youth centre, is looking to fill the position on a trial basis and that they would like to hire one of the current volunteers, who has the proper qualifications.

“Up until now, we have been operating a 40-hour per week facility strictly with volunteers,” said Burton.

The job will consist of coordinating appointments for counselling and tutoring and running the centre during drop-in times.

Staff said they don’t want the coordinator reporting to the CAO of the municipality because the new hire will not be an employee of the township. The new hire will report to the committee but the job description and employment contract details have yet to be worked out. CAO Stephen Sage said this contract would be treated like any other, in that if the obligations were not met, the contract would be terminated.

Council agreed to hire using the single sourced contractor method as per the township’s procurement bylaw, instead of posting the job.

The compensation will be funded from community and corporate donations. Clearview Youth Services Committee, reported Burton, has raised $6,000 in donations and has commitments of another $7,000 for

2017, for a total of $13,000, which will cover the costs of the 30-hour a week contract position.

The bulk of the use at the centre is during drop-in from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The demands on the volunteers to meet these time slots is becoming more difficult as it takes away time from their employment and family time, said Burton.

“We are in desperate need of someone there to take control,” said Councillor Robert Walker, adding that volunteers have been doing the work but a paid position should be developed.

The list is released to the public each spring as required by law under the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act and reveals the annual salaries and taxable benefits of public sector employees who earn $100,000 or more.

CAO Stephen Sage made $133,679 in 2016 (plus $706.38 in taxable benefits); treasurer and director of finance Edward Henley made $120,970.43 (plus $639.26 in taxable benefits); clerk and director of legislative services Pamela Fettes made $110,978.70 (plus $586.58 in taxable benefits);

Fire Chief Colin Shewell made $117,836.99 (plus $546.80 in taxable benefits); and general manager of environmental services Mike Rawn made $103,238.45 (plus $546.80 in taxable benefits).

The way we were

Community volunteers are more asset than liability After almost a year, and four tries at reducing the number of volunteer boards and committees in Clearview Township, council and staff are not much closer to its goal.

With more stringent legislation coming down the pike, they are trying to figure out how to separate the municipality from volunteers who are in governing roles because of the increasing requirements for proper procedure and reporting. Apparently this township has more volunteers than its neighbours, which has its pros and cons. You could say Clearview has more volunteers than it knows what to do with.

Earlier contributions cannot be discounted when evaluating current success, and the same applies to the township when it comes to many of its facilities, which have been funded and operated by volunteer efforts. We are talking about the sports parks in New Lowell and Nottawa, community halls and facilities.

There is a desire to reduce the number of committees and boards, give some of the duties to staff but keep the volunteers engaged so they will continue to use the facilities, plan activities and fundraise. But not everyone can agree which boards and committees should be dissolved and how to do it without alienating those volunteers.

The answer is, you can’t.

You can change a system and some people will adapt but others will inevitably feel alienated.

This discussion is taking place at a time when other volunteer organizations are struggling to find new blood, so it may not be so easy to find others to pick up the torch in terms of fundraising and programming.

Council, at the recommendation of staff, is now considering hiring people to help the boards and committees that survive the whittling process, become compliant with current and future regulations. This would be welcome support to many organizations that struggle to keep up with reporting minutes, preparing agendas, managing the finances. Some argue that is an unnecessary expense, but if we could tally how much taxpayer dollars were saved over the years because of these volunteer initiatives, we would probably be pleasantly surprised.

We have to remember that people in the community built these facilities using community funds and yes, the municipality owns them, but we are the municipality.

It is hard to say for sure what would have happened to the community centres and parks over the years if volunteers hadn’t managed them but there is a chance that they would have been sold off. Many other municipalities have disposed of their community halls.

The township is looking to protect volunteers from retribution and that is admirable. Let’s help them help us by accepting new regulations and working to a higher standard. If the time comes when the boards and committees are dissolved and municipal staff are tasked with the duties of taking on the facilities, so be it, but the quality of care, programming and engagement will decrease and then we will find ourselves asking, what happened?

Playing for the love of the game Editor: At a time when this country is gearing up to celebrate 150 years of Canada, I reflect upon my favourite Canadian memories, all the times hockey has been part of my life.

On Saturday afternoon I attended an OMHA finals game. It had all the excitement of a Stompin’ Tom’s The Hockey Song (The Good Old Hockey Game).

Throughout this season I have seen this team grow like a Christmas tree. It started with a few sprouts, the boys who grew when encouraged and guided skillfully by their coaching staff. They were supported by the hockey executive. Now it has branched out to families, friends, neighbours, the town and community. Included were the major jersey sponsors. Topping this tree wasn’t a star with several shiny points, but a puck, solid and well rounded; a continuous circle.

Their aim was to play as a team rather than put points on the scoreboard. I saw every player take their chance.

Now, in true hockey fashion, the game was a nailbiter. Goal for goal, the teams matched each other until sudden death decided the outcome.

and coaches were driven around town, escorted by fire trucks declaring their victory. I heard one man say he remembered doing the same thing. He didn’t remember the particular details of the wins but he sure remembered every detail of the championship ride. As the wagon full of smiling faces returned to the parking lot, one boy ran to his parents and cried out, “That was cool!”

It makes all those times of sitting in the cold arena, long winter drives and interrupted mealtimes disappear from memory and fill your heart with pride.

You’d think after all this excitement, the team would have headed home to wind down and celebrate.

One parent yells, “Come over to our place and we’ll barbecue.” Others chime in about what they can bring to the party.

A short time later I observed this team, joined by many of their siblings, continuing the tradition with a road hockey game that lasted far longer than the game they had just won. For them, the game goes on, only the venue has changed.

This is my Canadian pride… playing for the love of the game.

The time to start seeds is now Hope The Creemore Horticultural Society (CHS) is offering a free seedplanting workshop for the public on Wednesday, April 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Luke’s Anglican Church Hall, 22 Caroline St. W. in Creemore.

This workshop will help answer those questions and more.

Whether you are a novice gardener who has never stuck a trowel in the ground or a more experienced gardener who has always purchased seedlings from a nursery, this workshop is for you.

All workshop supplies will be provided. You will leave with a covered container holding planted seeds for two different types of heirloom tomatoes including one that would never be found in a nursery,

two sunflowers of a variety also rarely found in a store, and two marigolds.

Instruction will be provided on how to care for you seeds so that they will sprout, how to care for seedlings, how to get them ready to move outside, when to transplant them, and more.

Although the workshop is entirely free, advance registration is required to ensure adequate supplies are available. You can register by email to CreemoreHort@gmail.com or call Judi at 1-519-925-5368 to provide the number and names of participants.

You do not need to be a member of CHS to participate. All ages are welcome to attend although those age 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. (Only one child per adult, please.)

Lyme disease, a growing concern For the past 10 years we have heard a great deal about Lyme Disease, a bacteria caused illness that is spread to humans by ticks.

The disease has been spreading rapidly northward and has become a significant health concern in our community.

Because the disease has been difficult to diagnose, and because treatment is challenging, the health community has been faced with the problem of setting an overall approach to Lyme Disease, as well as to designing standard treatment protocols.

The urgency of finding an effective approach to diagnosis and treatment has been magnified as Lyme Disease has become significantly more common in Canada. For example,

as our climate becomes warmer, there are now many more cases in Dufferin and Simcoe counties, home to large populations of the animal and bird species that harbor the infected ticks. While it is ever more common, the disease has seriously impacted citizens of our community for many years, causing for some, a serious decline in overall health, and in some cases death.

This serious health problem is the topic of a public information meeting that presented by the Environment Committee of the Mono Mulmur Citizens’ Coalition on April 1.

Speakers will include Dr. Melanie Wills, a Guelph University researcher who has done extensive work on Lyme Disease, and Dr. Barb Lewars, a local veterinarian who has worked

on the animal aspects of Lyme Disease.

There will also be a panel discussion that includes two people who have suffered from Lyme Disease.

There will be plenty of opportunities for audience participation and questions.

The presentations will focus on the current state of the Lyme Disease threat, on diagnosis approaches, and protection for ourselves, our families and our pets. There will be displays, handouts, and information on tick removal.

The event is from 9 a.m. to noon on April 1, at the Monora Park Pavilion, 500 Monora Park Road, Mono (Orangeville). Admission is free and refreshments will be served.

Students who have not been successful in past attempts will write the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) on March 30.

Students who are writing the OSSLT are to arrive at school at their regular time and buses will be on regular schedules.

Regular classes will be delayed until the afternoon for all secondary students. Students not writing the test will be picked up at their regular bus stops 4.5 hours later than their regularly scheduled pick-up time.

Buses for elementary students are not affected.

March can be a tricky month.

It fools us into thinking that the snow is over and the Cat April showers FLACK will bring all the May flowers out. Ha! That is what I say.

Living 1,000 feet above Creemore has taught me (rather roughly at times) that spring and summer arrive much later up here on Mount Zion.

When I first heard the name Mount Zion, images of blue water and pristine white buildings, you know the ones you see in the Greek Islands. The only blue and white that I can see from this Mount Zion is the blue of Georgian Bay fringed with the last of the white snow and ice.

What March does get me thinking about though is seed catalogues and livestock sales. The feed stores have lasted this long so the end of worrying about hay and silage is hopefully coming to an end.

I have a good friend who once took me to New Listowel (although most people just call it Listowel) to the Carson’s Sale Barn. This friend was once queen of the Limousines. This was a Limo sale and I was excited to see what would walk through the ring.

The prices started quite high, which is the norm, so I had to wait patiently to get something in my price bracket (cheap).

One of the last cows to wander through the ring was a registered one named Expertise. Bonus! She had a young calf at her side. Bigger Bonus!

They took Visa as payment so that meant I got Air Miles to boot. My friend thought I was crazy but laughed when I mentioned the Air Miles. I won’t tell you what the CEO said, due to coarse language content, but, I was happy, my first cow and calf.

The cow knew her name and would follow me around the yard gently mooing when I said her name. I eventually had to ship her, but I still have her great granddaughter who produces a fine calf each year. See, March can be a fun month even though it can also blow you away.

Taxpayers could make up for event funding shortfall

by Trina Berlo Clearview Township taxpayers will be picking up the tab for events that have been denied provincial and federal funding.

The township was counting on grant money from Celebrate Ontario, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Canada 150 and Ontario 150 but all four grant applications were denied, leaving a $50,000 shortfall in the 2017 recreation programming budget.

Community culture and tourism coordinator Amanda Murray was before council on March 20 asking members to consider making up for the funding shortfall by allocating $25,000 this year and $50,000 next year.

Councillor Shawn Davidson put forward a motion, which was supported by council, to increase the funding up to $45,000 this year.

The decision is expected to be finalized when council adopts the tax bylaw later this spring.

Davidson wanted to bring the funding back to last year’s level to protect the community events, which were facing either a 50 per cent funding reduction, or even a total loss of funding if council does not agree to inject taxpayer dollars.

Non-municipal events would face reduced or no funding – the Stayner Kinsmen Duck Race ($1,600), Creemore Children’s Festival ($4,600), Copper Kettle Festival, organized by Creemore Springs Brewery, ($4,000) and the farmers’ markets in Creemore ($2,600) and New Lowell ($2,600).

Municipally run events are not facing funding cuts – Sunnidale Winterama ($1,500), Health and Leisure Expo ($1,000), Small Halls Festival

($25,000), Canada Day activities including a time capsule, geocache challenge, social media campaign and tulip blooming celebration ($4,200) and the Stayner farmers’ market ($5,000).

Two signature events – the Gathering of the Classics at Edenvale Aerodrome and the Great Northern Exhibition fall fair – do not receive any municipal funding.

“My thoughts are to maintain the funding year over year as it would not require any further increase to the budget,” said Davidson. “Staff will look closer at the various events and advise during 2018 budget process whether to maintain or if we can decrease funding.”

All events, if funding remains at 2016 levels, would receive $27,100 in funds, not including $25,000 already set aside for Small Halls Festival. Add

another $19,000 in marketing costs.

Murray reported staff has already found $7,000 in efficiencies but they will be looking for another $1,000 savings in order to come in on budget at $45,000.

Murray reported that between 2012 and 2016, Clearview Township has received $600,000 in grants Murray told council Monday that the expectation should be that the events become self-sustaining.

“As the events and activities grow, the expectation is that more and more of these become self sustaining or generate revenue through other sources,” reported Murray… “administration will implement a new process based on best practices for events to receive funding.”

She said the plan also includes introducing requirements for reporting attendance and economic impact.

NCPS plans for 50th anniversary Nottawasaga and Creemore Public School is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and the party planning is underway.

The school is looking for contributions from the community and is collecting photos and memorabilia to share during an open house and anniversary celebration on June 8.

The date was originally set for May 10 but school principal Alison Golding said due to a conflict with a number of school board officials, the date has been changed.

The public is invited to attend a planning meeting at the school library at 6 p.m. on April 10.

So far, said Golding, the plan is to have an open house beginning at 4 p.m. followed by an official ceremony at 6:30 p.m., with special guests and speakers.

There will be student-led tours of the school, with classrooms decorated in the style of the school’s past decades, there will be food and cake.

Anyone interested in participating or donating is asked to contact Golding at 705-466-2624 ext. 25901 before April 7. She is hoping to find a business or service club willing to offer an outdoor food option.

Durocher and Gemmiti take top honours at NDBL awards

by Scott Anderson The North Dufferin Baseball League hosted an awards ceremony Sunday in Lisle to recognize 2016 season award winners.

Taking the top awards in the junior division was Bailey Durocher of the Mansfield Cubs. Durocher won honours as the most valuable player, most sportsmanlike player, and most homeruns. He also received a most valuable player award from the All-Star Game in July.

Teammate Jeff Christman picked up the top pitcher award in the division.

Nathan Lennox of the New Lowell Knights was the top junior batter for the season with a .479 average while Konar Smith of the Ivy Rangers won the best on base percentage with .627 and had the most runs scored at 21.

In the senior division, Michael Gemmiti of the Bolton Dodgers topped three categories. He won the best batter award with a .494 average and was selected as the division’s most valuable player and most sportsmanlike player.

Brad Crosby from the Aurora Jays finished first in the on base category with a .655 percentage.

Gowan, meanwhile hit eight homeruns last season to win the category, while teammate Chris Greer

scored 28 times for the most runs award.

The coach of the year title went to Steve Lafreniere and Fred Flood of the Midland Indians after the team finished the regular season first in the East division and had a stellar year on the diamond.

The New Lowell seniors won the West division first place standing while New Lowell and Mansfield juniors tied for first in standings last year.

The Ivy Leafs were recognized with the OBA plaque after the team won the provincial senior ‘A’ title in September.

Following the awards, team representatives met for the first meeting of the 2017 season with an increase in games for senior teams.

A 30-game season has been approved as the Bolton Brewers returned from a two-year leave of absence and the Ivy Rangers moved up from junior to make an 18-team senior division.

The three remaining junior teams, Mansfield, Midland, and New Lowell, have been joined by a new entry from Lisle to continue at four teams. The division will play an 18-game schedule.

The season begins the first weekend in May.

A young driver was speeding along a highway when he suddenly went through a guard rail on the right side of the culvert, flipped end over end and landed right side up on the left side of the culvert.

Had he went straight after breaking the guard rail then he would have went down a horrendous ravine thousands of feet below. If God is not done with you, then God is not done with you.

Remember: There are two kinds of people in the world , givers and takers. The takers eat better, but the givers sleep better.

Knutson, Robert Alfred

Died Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 87 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC), peacefully, with his family by his side. Born in Port Arthur, August 24, 1929, Robert spent his working life in Toronto, retiring to Creemore, Ontario. With his wife, Marilyn, he returned to Thunder Bay in 2013, to take up residence at Chartwell Isabella.

Following graduation from Port Arthur Collegiate, he attended Lakehead Technical Institute before completing a Bachelor’s degree in Geology at Queen’s University and a Master’s degree in Geology at the University of Manitoba. He began his career as an exploration geologist with Lundberg Explorations Ltd. of Toronto before moving to Newconex Canadian Exploration Ltd. where he spent the majority of his working years. He was employed by Canamax Resources Inc. when he retired in 1987. He was a fellow of the Geological Association of Canada, and a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.

Robert was proud of his Norwegian heritage, and visited Norway twice. He had a generous heart, and was willing to help others in any way he could. He was a creative and skilled woodworker, who often donated his work to raise money for community projects and charities. He enjoyed a broad range of music, from folk songs to opera. Robert was a man of integrity, intelligence and quiet strength who cherished his time with family and friends.

Robert will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 62 years, Marilyn, and their children: David (Beverly) Knutson of Thunder Bay, Kathryn (Paul) Monti of Fredericton, NB, Karen (Andrew) McDonald of Vancouver, BC and “big brother,” nephew Keith (Julia) Lockhart of Oakville, ON; grandchildren: Michael and Vivike Knutson, Andrea and Jennifer McDonald, Kristy and Heather Lockhart. He will be missed by his remaining siblings: Betty (Ken) McAskill, Irene (George) Hartviksen and Ed Knutson, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many special friends.

Celebration of his life was held at Blake Funeral Chapel, 200 South May Street, Thunder Bay, on Thursday, March 23 with a reception at the Columbus Centre following the service.

The family is especially grateful to the medical staff at the TBRHSC (Stroke Unit/ Palliative Care Team), particularly the wonderful doctors and nurses who provided exceptional care for him and support for his family during his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations to the TBRHSC Foundation would be appreciated.

Clarke, Elsa Marion (McLeod) Born December 15. 1927. Died Friday, March 17, 2017. It’s with much sadness in our hearts that we share the passing of our mom, Elsa Marion Clarke. Those who loved Mom, and there are many, treasure the dignity, love and loyalty with which she lived her life. Mom experienced joy and sadness and loss in her life. She relied on her Christian faith and love of family and friends to help her through the losses of her first husband, Jack Hartle (1951) and their son Jack Hartle Eakins (2011) and granddaughter Megan (2012) and husband James (Peter) Edwin Eakins (1975) and their son James Warner Eakins (2009) and her brother Ronald Stuart McLeod (2013). In 1977, Mom married the love of her life, George Franklin Clarke. For 30 years they were the centre and core of Clarke, McLeod, and Eakins families. For retirement, they split their time between life in Toronto and up at Skye, a beautiful country home on Niagara Escarpment near Creemore.

They gardened, golfed, planted trees, hosted family gatherings and involved themselves in village life. Those of us left to grieve and celebrate her life include her brothers Roderick (Sue) and Norman (Joyce), son Gray and his family (Alana, Oliver, and Matthew), daughter Elizabeth and her family (James, Gray, and Mary), granddaughter Caitlin, and grandsons, Lee, and Jesse. Mom was loved and adored by nieces and nephews from her Mcleod and Eakins families.

In Mom’s later years, she faced the challenge of Alzheimer’s. She did this with courage, faith, and family and the support of her dear Evelyn, and cousin Jane. We would like to thank Mom’s care and nursing team on the Reminiscence Unit at Sunrise Living in Thornhill for their compassionate, professional care of Mom, during her last year and last week. You exemplify the love, programming and dignity that is needed to support those living with Alzheimers.

A visitation, service and prayers of committal were held at Grace on the Hill Anglican Church, 300 Lonsdale Road, Toronto, Ontario on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated.

Controlled burn planned for Hogback Tract

The County of Simcoe will be executing a controlled burn on 21 acres of County Forests within the Hogback Tract in Clearview Township, between the communities of Brentwood and New Lowell.

The controlled burn will occur as early as conditions allow however, the exact date cannot be determined at this time as it will be dictated by site and weather conditions.

Once the date of the controlled burn has been confirmed, county officials have said they will make every effort to inform the public. The burn is expected to be complete within a 24-hour period and the site will be closely monitored to make sure the fire is fully extinguished.

A highly experienced company has been retained to plan and conduct the burn. Trained and experienced personnel will be on site until it is completely extinguished, and smoke issues will be minimized by burning under specific wind and atmospheric conditions. The County does not anticipate any road closures or any major impact or disruption on local residents.

The County of Simcoe cleared over-mature scotch pine trees on this site in 2016 due to advancing decline and mortality of these trees. This process has resulted in a large amount of remaining debris on the site as well as poor conditions for natural regeneration. A controlled burn has been determined to be the best option to reduce the fire hazard and prepare the area for re-planting in a controlled, costefficient manner.

County council approved the Simcoe County Forests Management Plan in 2011 to guide policies

A controlled burn is planned for the New Lowell area sometime this spring. through 2030. The Plan outlines that fire has historically played a primary role by influencing composition, structure and patterns of our forests and will be used as a strategy moving forward.

Controlled burns have been conducted previously within the County Forests, the two most recent burns occurred in 2014 within the Brentwood Tract in Clearview Township and in 1995 within the Cedar Point Tract in Tiny Township.

The site will be monitored after the burn for any additional site preparation, which may be needed and planted to appropriate native species in the spring of 2018.
