Fond farewell to Fred Mills by Trina Berlo It is with a heavy heart that we at The Creemore Echo say so long to Fred Mills. Mills has been an integral part of The Echo team for seven years, delivering the newspaper to post offices and vendors every Friday, taking photos at local events, selling ads, greeting customers at the office, answering phones and helping with the daily operation of the office. As “assistant” Mills has been an invaluable helper to everyone at The Echo and to the community at large. “I feel it’s time for a change,” said Mills, who also works part time at Devil’s Glen and recently took on a part time job at Creemore Springs Brewery. (See “Mills” on page 3)

The Creemore Echo is collecting gifts and food for the Salvation Army Hope Acres and the Clearview Stayner Food Bank. The Echo is collecting gifts for Hope Acres’ Christmas assistance program, which distributes to about 80 families in Creemore, Everett, Glencairn, Lisle, New Lowell, Mansfield, Rosemont, Angus, Borden, Alliston and all the rural areas in between. Toys are needed for the younger children and gift cards (for stores such as Walmart and theatre passes) are needed for older children. The Clearview Stayner Food Bank, operated by the Clearview Ministerial Association, provides for about 65 families. They are always in need of canned soup, peanut butter and cereal. TD Canada Trust Bank in Creemore is also collecting toys and food and Nottawasaga and Creemore Public School is also holding a food drive. The Echo is also accepting monetary donations for both Hope Acres and the Clearview Stayner Food Bank. Anyone in need of assistance from the Salvation Army is asked to call 705466-3435 ext. 228 and leave a message with a call back number. Drop all donations off at The Creemore Echo office, located at 3 Caroline St. W.
