A fire destroyed a log home near Singhampton last Friday. The cause is believed to be electrical in nature.

Fire destroys Singhampton home by Trina Berlo Clearview Township Fire Chief Colin Shewell says the fire that destroyed a Singhampton house last Friday started in the basement and was electrical in nature. Passersby noticed smoke coming from the house on County Road 124, just east of Singhampton, shortly

before 1:30 p.m. No one was home at the time and no one was injured but one cat was unaccounted for. The homeowners arrived on scene while the home was fully engulfed. Shewell said when crews arrived, flames were coming out through the windows. Firefighters tried to get into

the house but the fire was too advanced. He said firefighters did a great job containing the flames to the building and also kept hoses on a neighbouring vinyl clad house to avoid heat damage. Shewell estimated the damage at more than $250,000 and said there is nothing to indicate the fire is suspicious in any way.
