HORSES AND HOUNDS One of Creemore’s great autumn traditions was observed last Saturday as the Thanksgiving crowds watched the horses and hounds of the Toronto North York Hunt Club parade down Mill Street. Led by huntsman Antony Gaylard, the event is always notable for its silence; surprisingly, the hounds make no noise and the only thing you can hear is the sound of hooves on pavement. For more full-colour photos of the parade, be sure to check out the slideshow at www.creemore.com.

REMEMBER TO CAST YOUR VOTE

Mail-in ballots for the 2010 municipal election must be dropped in the mailbox by Saturday, October 16. But that’s not your last chance to vote, as ballots can be hand-delivered to the Clearview Township Administration Centre (or the Mulmur Town Hall) right up until 8 pm on Monday, October 25, the official election day. In 2006 less than 40 per cent of registered voters in Clearview cast their ballot; with many important issues facing Council in the next term, we would hope that percentage would increase this time around. Please remember to vote!

An Autumn Walk for Cancer

The Dunedin Fall Colour Cancer Walk takes place on Saturday, October 16, starting at the Dunedin Hall at 10 am. This is a great way to enjoy the fall scenery and raise money for a good cause at the same time. Call (705) 726-8032 for details or just show up, ready to walk.

MASTER BAKER The Hunt Club parade was not the only autumn tradition

taking place last weekend – the final day of the Farmers’ Market season also featured the Creemore Heritage Apple Society’s annual Apple Pie Baking Contest. This year’s winner was Wilma Zeggil, seen here with event organizer Al Clarke and Echo publisher Sara Hershoff, who acted as one of the judges. For more pictures and full results, see page 3.

Car Rally and Chili Supper

The New Lowell United Church is hosting a car rally, beginning at the church at 1 pm on Saturday, October 16. A Chili Supper will follow. Call 424-7416 for details or see page 2.

Red Carpet Weekend

As per usual, tickets are now sold out for the Creemore Mocks Film Festival Gala on Saturday night. But there are still two ways to view this year’s hilarious entries. At 1 pm on Saturday, October 16, there will be a free community screening at the Station on the Green. And on Sunday, October 17, tickets remain available for the 11 am brunch, where you can view the movies and enjoy a great meal, complete with champagne. Call (705) 888-5139 to reserve brunch tickets ($30).
