News and views in and around Creemore
HOUSE FIRE ON 12/13 SIDEROAD by Brad Holden Sirens wailed in Creemore Wednesday afternoon as firefighters from all Clearview Fire Halls ran a relay in and out of town, pumping water to contain a housefire on 12/13 Sideroad. In the end, the house of Rick and Jocelyn Dobinson, east of Airport Road, was burnt to the foundation. Luckily, no one was hurt in the fire – Rick, Jocelyn, and children Lauren (15) and Cole (13) are all safe, as well
as the family dog and a pet gecko. This information came to us from family friend Denise Kacerevich. Calls to the Clearview Fire Department and the Huronia West OPP detachment were not returned by press time. Anyone who would like to donate clothing or food (especially dry goods), as the Dobinsons have lost almost everything, can call Denise at 705-466-6453.
REACHING FOR THE SUN Lorne Cleary’s sunflowers have had a few
lean years since the last time we put them on the front page, but this year they’ve reached higher than ever before. About four years ago, Lorne grew one to his rafters. Pictured above is this year’s edition, nearly 13 feet high and topping out above the roof line.
