SHOWDOWN IN STAYNER Anti-wind groups plan major rally preceding Fairview Wind Farm Open House Wednesday

by Brad Holden Wpd Canada, the company that plans to build eight 500-foot-tall wind turbines in the vicinity of County Road 91 and Fairgrounds Road, will hold a Public Open House at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, July 13 at the Stayner Community Centre. Opposition groups Clearview WAIT and Preserve Clearview, who not only oppose industrial wind installations in general but also agree with Clearview Council that wpd’s recent announcement of a new site plan should require the company to start its application process all

over again, are planning to arrive at the meeting in style, and encourage anyone and everyone who has any concerns about the potential project to join them between 3:30 and 4 pm at Clearview Nursery (8257 County Road 91). From there, the plan is for everyone to travel together, by any means people choose – by car, by tractor, even by plane. According to Preserve Clearview member Chuck Magwood, the gathering will be quite the show. Clearview Nursery owner and recreational pilot Kevin Elwood, whose private runway points directly toward one of the proposed turbine sites, will be joined in the air by several patrons of the Collingwood Airport, which has officially registered its concerns about the effect the turbines will have on its future operations.
