Clearview Township building inspector Ron Pittendreigh (from left), Mayor Chris Vanderkruys and CAO Steve Sage hoist a flag bearing the municipality's new logo at town hall in Stayner. New flags will be going up around the township as staff time permits.

New flags going up throughout township by Trina Berlo Something new and something blue. People will start seeing new Clearview Township flags going up throughout the municipality after council agreed on a new design. The flag features the new logo on a familiar blue background, which was

preferred over a white background. CAO Steve Sage brought a recommendation for the flag design to council March 25 in keeping with the implementation of the branding process completed last year. Sage said 50 flags have been ordered and as time permits, they will be hoisted

at municipal facilities, beginning with the fire halls and arenas. This is one of several upcoming decisions council will make as staff continues to roll out the design guidelines for the somewhat controversial rebranding process. “I am starting to love it and on a

personal note, so does my husband and he is not easy to please,” said Councillor Connie Leishman. Councillor Doug Measures was the only council member not to vote for the new flag, saying that he has not supported the new logo from the beginning.

Six Clearview staffers make Sunshine List by Trina Berlo Six Clearview Township employees have made the so-called Sunshine List, released March 27. The list is released to the public each spring as required by law under the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act and reveals the annual salaries and taxable benefits of public sector employees who earn $100,000 or more. Public sector employees include politicians, educators, firefighters, municipal employees, those working in

health care, police and public utilities, among others. Six Clearview Township employees made the list this year, up from four last year. Treasurer and director of finance Edward Henley was the top earner, making $119,726.70. Director of planning, development and information services Michael Wynia earned $109,839.36, CAO Steve Sage earned $108,723.88, clerk and director of legislative services Pamela

Fettes earned $108,544.92, general manager of environmental services Mike Rawn earned $102,168.72 and fire chief Colin Shewell earned $102,168.73. In Mulmur Township, CAO/clerk Terry Horner was the only employee to make the list, bringing in $102,442.90. The list is short compared to neighbouring municipalities. In Collingwood, 22 employees made the list, with 18 in Wasaga Beach. Huronia West OPP commander

Kevin Hunter earned $156,455.99. In the education sector, 243 Simcoe County District School Board employees and 136 Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board employees made the list. Sixteen people at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital are listed, in addition to 12 employees at the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.
