Welcome to our Autumn Season at The Courtyard in Hereford - one that celebrates imagination, creativity and the experience of live performance, live screenings and the very best of film.
This autumn, whether you’re discovering something new, or you’re a seasoned visitor to The Courtyard, we have something for everyone. At the heart of our season, in October half term, is our Family Festival, and this year’s theme is Spirit of the Sea, which promises to be an exciting experience for our younger audiences and their families. After last year’s phenomenal turnout, we’re excited to be able to build on its success and make 2026 even more memorable.
As we move into the festive season, preparations are well underway for our award-winning pantomime, which this year is the Godmother of all pantomime’s, Cinderella. It is already capturing the imagination of audiences with tickets selling very quickly – so I’d strongly encourage you to book early to avoid missing out on one of the highlights of the year. For our younger audience, don’t miss our Studio Christmas Show, The Snow Queen. A magical show full of family fun and perfect for children under 7 and their grown-ups.
Behind the scenes, we’re also taking important steps to improve what we offer. We have launched our Make Room fundraising campaign to transform our Studio space. With plans for improved seating, layout and temperature control we will be able to offer you an enhanced Cinema and Studio Theatre experience that will better serve our audiences for years to come. Winner of four Olivier Awards including Best New Musical, this smash hit show shares the incredible real-life story of the thousands of air passengers from all over the world who were grounded in Canada during the wake of 9/11, and the isolated Newfoundland community that invited these ‘come from aways’ into their lives with open hearts.
What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying 7,000 passengers from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001. Wally worked originally in jewellery, silversmithing and architectural metalwork but in the 2000’s he returned to his original interest of sculpture before then becoming interested in the fabric printing and book making which are shown in this exhibition.

Our ground-floor Studio is a busy and versatile space - bringing together lovers of independent cinema, live screenings, children’s theatre, community showcases, folk music, stand-up comedy and much more. In 2025 alone, more than 45,000 tickets were issued for this space, welcoming thousands of people through its doors!
To ensure you can continue to enjoy inspiring experiences for years to come, we are launching the Make Room campaign to raise £130,000 by Spring 2027, with a view to refurbishing the Studio space for the autumn 2027 season.

Youth Theatre Spark Day
Tactile signage is provided around the building. Audio Description is available on selected live shows and films. Audio Description is live commentary given between on stage/screen dialogue by trained describers to help capture atmosphere, costumes, characters and action. This information is relayed through a discreet headset linked to an infrared system. Please check with Box Office for up to date details of Audio Described shows & film screenings
