TEACHER ENDOWMENT Our teachers represent the heart of The Country School. They are committed to child-centered learning, professional development, and living out the school’s Mission. The Teacher Endowment, started in 2019, provides funds for teachers to continue their education through professional development, purchase classroom materials and resources to create an innovative learning environment for their students, and establish an inclusive and diverse community. Through the overwhelming generosity of current and past families, grandparents, and many other supporters of The Country School, the Teacher Endowment grew by an additional $100,000+ in donations this year! Thank you for your vision and support to build this endowment, which inspires teachers to do what they do best—educate our students. Aaron M. Alia '21

SPRING GATHERING AND AUCTION Like most events this year, our annual spring fundraiser moved from an in-person evening of food and community to a virtual evening of beverage tastings, laughs, and live performance starring Vicki Wepler and John Fixx singing the Friends song. Despite our presence in “boxes” and conversation via chat, the generosity of our supporters came through loud and clear. Auction, raffle, and Raise thePaddle from this evening added another $35,000 to the Teacher Endowment. We can’t thank you enough for this successful evening.

REPORT OF GIVING 2020-202

FOUNDERS’ PROMISE FUND FOR SCHOLARSHIP Numerous donors have come together over the years to establish various scholarships and endowments so that all deserving students who demonstrate great promise and need may receive an education that lasts a lifetime, which was the vision of The Country School founders. In 2020-2021, nearly a quarter of our students received assistance from our scholarship resources, which include: ❖

Founders’ Promise Fund (FPF) for Scholarship, established in 2006 by Allee and Jeff '61 Burt P '00, '03 and their family

FPF Endowment established in 2011 during the school’s 55th Anniversary

David and Marcia MacLane Endowment for Scholarship established in 2012 by Duncan '64 and his wife JoAnn MacLane in honor of his parents

Class of 2014 Scholarship Endowment established by the Class of 2014 during their 8th Grade year

We are especially grateful to the following individuals, companies, and foundations that have generously contributed to the Founders’ Promise Fund and its endowments this year, allowing us to continue to offer scholarship assistance to students and their families.

GIFTS IN KIND Along with monetary contributions to help close the gap between tuition income and operating expenses, The Country School receives many goods and services that enrich the educational experience of students, improve the campus, and contribute to our fundraisers. These gifts in kind, although not monetary, positively impact the operating budget because they allow us to shift funds to areas where most needed. We thank all donors who contributed to The Country School in this manner during the course of this school year. Backstage Dance Center

HERITAGE SOCIETY The Heritage Society was established more than a decade ago in response for the desire of families and individuals close to The Country School to leave a legacy to the support the school in perpetuity. Planned deferred gifts are a tax deductible and a sensible way for donors to take care of themselves and then take care of our school. We are so very grateful to those individuals who have made these gifts to The Country School. For information on how you can make a gift of this type, please contact Nicole Cretella, Director of Development (Nicole.Cretella@TheCountrySchool.org or ext. 124). John DeFrancis P '58* David T. CLASS OF 2021 GIFT 18 students. 1 spectacular Outdoor Learning Center! What an appropriate gift from this incredible class as we adjust to new norms and the need to be outdoors more. Even before COVID, The Country School embraced the great outdoors in its many elements of experiential learning. This space, donated by this year’s graduating class and their families, will allow students to continue learning in a dedicated area that’s sure to bring inspirational conversation and meaningful discussion.
