WELCOME TO LONDON’S INTERNATIONAL THEATRE

The Coronet Theatre is the home of exceptional international arts in a re-imagined and restored Grade II listed theatre in London’s Notting Hill Both its programme and the building’s restoration are curated by Artistic Director & CEO Anda Winters in collaboration with artists from across the globe

TCT’s mission is to engage, educate, and empower our diverse audiences with new perspectives on global arts. We platform both emerging and renowned artists from all over the world, creating a vibrant space where cultures collide and ideas come alive.

RELIC EURIPIDES LASKARIDIS

In Relic, Laskaridis plays with transformation and ridicule, constantly shifting between the peculiarly poignant and the utterly bizarre, creating audacious and mischievous work that taps into who we are Marked by a sense of contained chaos, he breaks, distorts, reforms and manipulates commonplace materials and the detritus of everyday life to create the unexpected.

Relic is what survives from the past. A thing left behind, be it a memory, an object, a language or being: “I dreamed of a lonely, unbalanced creature in a world made of nothing, just living, existing among objects, sound patterns, daily routines, verbal and physical challenges. A creature within a work that sought to be experienced rather than explained, to be lost without inhibition or apology in paradox, grotesquery, ridiculousness, and tenderness.” – Euripides Laskaridis

Internationally successful, critically acclaimed and now embarking on its farewell tour, Relic is the first in a series that includes Titans, which sold out in record time at the Coronet in 2023.

EURIPIDES LASKARIDIS

Euripides Laskaridis, a Greek director and performer, studied acting in Athens at the Karolos Koun Art Theatre, and directing in New York at Brooklyn College on an Onassis Foundation Scholarship Since 1995, he has been performing, collaborating with directors such as Dimitiris Papaioannou and Robert Wilson, while in 2016 he was awarded the Pina Bausch Fellowship and spent three months alongside director and choreographer Lemi Ponifasio, observing closely his work and practices. In 2000 he began directing his own work, which includes staged and site-specific performances, as well as award-winning short films. Euripides’ artistic universe is primarily inspired by the elements of ridicule and transformation, while his work and research may be met at the intersection of theatre, dance, and the visual arts

In 2009, he founded OSMOSIS, a performing arts company that offers him the space to collaborate with a diverse group of artists, that share a similar to his artistic vision Euripides and OSMOSIS have been invited to present their work in major theatre venues and festivals around the world, including the Athens Epidaurus Festival in Greece, Théâtre de la Ville in France, Julidans in the Netherlands, the Hong Kong Arts Festival, Festival TransAmériques in Canada, Lyon Biennale de la Danse, and more. Apart from his performing activities, Euripides has been invited by different institutions and drama schools around Europe to organize and lead workshops, sharing his artistic practices
