...do our best every day...
We are a friendly village school close to both the maritime history of Hull and the beautiful East Yorkshire coast.

We are ambitious about creating learning environments and excellence in teaching and learning that provide our children and young people with the best chance in their next steps.
Our school is proud of its roots in the local community. We look to help the children in our care appreciate where they’ve come from whilst also keeping their minds and hearts open to the future. We aim to help our children unlock their potential by learning and understanding their place and possibility in this ever changing world. We learn from each other, build each other up and work hard to do our best every day.
At Keyingham, we are very proud of our school community and greatly value the communication and partnerships we have with our parents. Our foremost attention is to the individual needs and aspirations of our children and young people. To help us do this we encourage parents to have an active and supporting role in their child’s school life.

Our Mission:
We put our pupils first. Our school is a happy and caring place where everyone is supported and challenged to:
• Grow in confidence and believe they can do well.
• Work together as a team, using our school values to help each other.
• Try new things and know that it’s okay to make mistakes as we learn.
• Feel proud of themselves, their friends, our Trust, and our local community.

Through our curriculum planning and delivery, our #KeyinghamKids will learn more and see more so that they can be more!
We have built the Keyingham Curriculum around our children. Each year, we help them to gain a richer knowledge and deeper understanding of the world around them. Our curriculum encourages curiosity by framing learning through key questionsbuilding knowledge whilst also developing reasoning skills and vocabulary.
Review of knowledge and understanding is key to ensure that the curriculum truly supports our children.
The Keyingham Curriculum follows a path with the child at its centre. Our children start each academic year focussing on themselves and our questions build up and outwards from there, gaining knowledge and drawing comparisons to deepen their appreciation and understanding. We scaffold our learning through challenging, rich and diverse texts to provide a vehicle for discussion, creation and more questions.

Our Pathway Curriculum intent is to teach children how to be safe in school, how to be safe online, to prepare them for the wider world through exposure to different faiths, immersive experiences and an underpinning view of the world through British values.
Our children have daily, weekly and termly opportunities to learn all that they need to prepare them for life in the modern world whilst taking with them our core values of Curiosity, Courage and Kindness.
Every child in our school takes part in our Forest School Curriculum at least once a week. There are also extra opportunities for Forest School activities in lunch clubs and in our after school enrichment offer.
We have mapped out the children's learning in our Forest School Curriculum so that it covers much of the Science curriculum in a hands-on way whilst also meeting our vision that our #KeyinghamKids learn more about the natural world, how to care for it and respect it, how to build upon it and how to survive in it so that they can be responsible and independent members of our community.
“...our Forest School Curriculum covers much of the Science curriculum in a hands-on way...’’

Throughout their time at Keyingham, children take part in a variety of curriculum enrichments, including cycle training as well as swimming lessons.
They have the opportunity to go on a residential visit to an outdoor adventure centre. The educational priorities throughout the packed three days are teamwork, outdoor and physical education and co-operative achievement.
Educational visits are organised to places of interest in our area, and some to further afield. During these visits, children learn about taking responsibility for themselves, working closely with others as well as gaining knowledge about the locations themselves.

Through our Pupil Leadership Charter, our #KeyinghamKids are given multiple leadership opportunities as another tool to help them prepare for the future.
School councillors, digital leaders, play leaders, well-being ambassadors, eco-warriors and librarians all ensure that our children are integral to the leadership of the school and they feel valued, supported and confident.

Keyingham
School we value the achievements and abilities of all our children and celebrate their successes.
We strive to provide an inclusive education that not only engages, inspires and motivates children, but develops their skills ready for life beyond primary school. Provision for SEND is regarded as a whole school responsibility and any concern regarding a child should always be discussed with their class teacher in the first instance.
We work to ensure that all learners receive an exceptional grounding in basic skills, including reading, writing, spelling, grammar, mathematical understanding and confidence in the expressive arts. We believe that independent home-learning can be an important and valuable part of childrens’ learning if it is supporting knowledge acquisition, deepening understanding of key concepts and encouraging curiosity. We appreciate how important the links between home and school are, and the need for us to work together to ensure quality education for all children.
We view the safeguarding of our children to be of paramount importance and believe that all our children have the right to be safe, happy and learn. Everyone who works in, volunteers at or visits our school has a responsibility to make this happen.
