DRESS
Paige is wearing the ultra-pretty Posey gown by British designer Suzanne Neville. The breathtaking dress has a wonderfully structured corset top, and a full skirt with plenty of movement and volume. The 3D flower detail adds a really feminine touch; it’s a gorgeous feature that adds interest and elegance in equal measure.
JEWELLERY
The Runa Fan earrings and necklace were a wonderful and delicate accompaniment to the gown. The fan design is studded with round and baguette-cut crystals, which create a luxurious and textured detail. A glorious touch of sparkle that finishes this look to perfection.
FLOWERS
This divine bouquet from the renowned Wild at Heart adds a burst of vibrant, fresh colour to our bridal look. The mix of deep dark reds and pinks are brought to life with the more peachy tones. The longer stems of foliage give the bouquet an interesting finish and add a whole new layer of depth and beauty to the arrangement. Simply heavenly.
Recently, a wedding planner was telling me tales of his favourite brides… as well as tales of the bridezillas he has had to deal with. His favourites all had a clear idea of what they wanted, were calm, relaxed and sounded utterly charming. One even sent him on a weekend away to Paris as a thank you (so I wonder why they were a favourite?!). His bridezillas had had a range of meltdowns regarding everything from venue opening hours and the scent of their flowers, to hairstyles, food issues and whether or not their bridesmaids were, and I quote, “working hard enough.” One bride had even thrown cake samples at the wall because they “just weren’t right.” Obviously I love a good gossip as much as the next person, but I couldn’t help but feel mildly sorry for said bridezillas – not because I think their behaviour is at all acceptable, but just because I totally understand wanting to get things perfect and how frustrating it is when that doesn’t quite happen. I’m in the middle of having my kitchen redone, and one tradesman didn’t think that he could do the tiling pattern in the way we wanted. Small issue, easily fixable… but if you had seen my face after the conversation took place you would have thought the world was about to end. So then, take this frustration and add to it the stress of trying to plan the most special day of your life – it surprises me that more brides don’t turn into monsters at least once or twice! So, if you feel like you’ve got a bit of rage, or you’ve had a shout at someone you shouldn’t have – give yourself a break, they’ll forgive you, it’s a stressful time! Try and relax a little, take any help offered to you, and try to enjoy at least some of the experience. A brilliant way to minimise stress is to be as prepared as possible – so enjoy reading through this issue of Confetti, I hope it will guide you along like a wise friend, as well as give you plenty of inspiration for a wonderful W-Day.

The latest trend in stationery is all about bold blooms, so take a look at some of this season’s hottest styles
These stylish and unstructured bouquet styles will set your gown off to perfection
A mix of small blooms can make an ultra pretty statement, and one that's perfect for a boho bride. Tiny roses, astilbe and waxflowers in varying shades of pink pop against the foliage – a glorious but relaxed mix.
A selection of bold, tonal colours is bang on trend this season –especially in a loose, cascading bouquet. Here, peonies are complemented by mauve roses with added texture from purple thistles and bright pops of yellow spherical craspedia.
Who doesn’t love these vibrant blooms? Sunflowers will ensure your bouquet makes a statement; to soften the look and add movement, match with long eucalyptus stems and some delicate grasses.
Soft pink will never go out of style. Mix these stems with white or bolder shades for a beautiful bouquet.

THIS COUPLE CHOSE A CHIC AND STYLISH THEME FOR THEIR AUSTRALIAN CITY CELEBRATION
PHOTOGRAPHER TOTO VILLARUEL, TOTOVILLARUEL.COM
Joanne and Aikee met in 2011 when they were introduced by a mutual friend at work. It was six years later, during an anniversary trip, that Aikee popped the question. “We headed back to our hotel room and as soon as I opened the door I was greeted down on one knee,” says Joanne.
The couple tied the knot in May 2018 with a sophisticated celebration in Sydney.

Joanne and Aikee chose a soft and elegant colour scheme with mainly grey, white and natural green tones. And, while they were lucky to have a classic space that didn’t require much decor, the couple were still able to add a unique touch with the inclusion of stylish pops of modern burgundy.

Cassandra and Chris chose to celebrate with a festive wedding a few days before Christmas in December 2018. Following a ceremony at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Haslemere, the couple held their reception at Ramster Hall. “We found our venue
was the perfect place for us,” says Cassandra. “From the moment you drive through the gates there’s a real ‘wow’ factor, but it also has a cosy and intimate feel that made it extra special.”
Cassandra and Chris opted for an elegant Christmas theme, choosing a colour scheme of deep red and green mixed with gold accents. “We added little Christmas touches throughout the day, such as mince pies during the drinks reception, personalised Christmas decorations that doubled as favours and place settings, as well as reindeer names on the table plan instead of numbers,” explains Cassandra.

Choose your style
If there is one thing that modern brides are doing to perfection, it's choosing a wedding outfit that matches their personal style rather than having to match up to what tradition dictates. Now more than ever before, we are seeing suits, jumpsuits and mix & match two pieces boom in popularity. This suit from Savin London is the perfect example of contemporary, personal dressing – if trousers are what make you feel confident, that’s what you should wear. Love colour? Then embrace this season's glorious rainbow of colours. The key trend to follow this year? Your own individuality.
A gorgeous gown with texture and style will tick all the right boxes in 2019 and beyond
Forget traditional lace, for a high fashion wedding dress this year, you’ll want a style that plays with different textures. The designers have had fun with this trend, introducing flirty fabrics, impressive 3D details and modern touches into their new season styles – and you’ll find plenty of dreamy options from brands that cover all price points and style preferences. Sparkly beadwork, heavy lace and unique fabrics are ideal for a bold contemporary look, while classic designs with gorgeous floral embellishments and ruffled details are perfectly feminine and romantic.
If you want to step away from the traditional, the jumpsuit trend is the one for you
Statement bridal jumpsuits are all the rage this year with gorgeous designs popping up in most of this season’s latest collections. Jumpsuits or trousers are a top choice with modern women looking to stand out on their big day and whether you want to dress the look up or down, it’s one that will definitely impress. With so many designs available, this is also a great trend no matter what your style – and it’s definitely one where you can inject some personality. Whether you’re a fashion-forward bride after something sleek and minimal, a vintage lover with a flair for pearls and feathers, or a boho bride seeking a cool and causal look, you’ll be spoilt for choice with these fabulous pieces.
The unadorned look is big news this season; think sumptuous materials and elegant silhouettes with no need for added extras
Not all brides want their gown to be embellished with beadwork, sparkles or floral motifs. We’re seeing a return to simplicity with chic, clean dresses that draw character and impact from their silhouette and cut. There will always be space in our hearts for illusion fabrics, lace and appliqués, but simple dresses that are completely unadorned can still have plenty of wow factor – from elegant slip styles or slim-line two pieces to full A-Line gowns. It’s a sophisticated look, ideal for brides who want to let their natural beauty shine through in an understated style. This is the chance to let quality fabric be the star of the show; unadorned designs in luxurious materials can have a timeless, very elegant look.
Gowns with a beautiful high neck are ideal for a chic and elegant wedding day look
If a plunging or sweetheart neckline isn’t your thing, you’ll love these gorgeous gowns. Not only does a high neckline exude sophistication, but it’s also guaranteed to make a classic statement as you walk down the aisle. This season there’s a great choice of styles available. Bateau and halter necks are everywhere thanks to Meghan Markle, while super high and collar necklines give a wedding style that’s both edgy and feminine. This trend is incorporated into a variety of silhouettes too – so whether you want a princess ballgown, flirty shorter design or a slinky style, you’ll definitely find something you love. Plus, for brides wanting classy sexy detailing, plenty of these gowns feature low backs, too.

There’ll be three big moments that you’ll always remember at the heart of your church wedding ceremony.
The first comes as you stand in the doorway of the church, pause, and then begin to walk down the aisle.
You’ll be walking in the footsteps of generations of brides before you. Whether you are surrounded by bridesmaids, walking with a father or a friend, or by yourself, whether you feel nervous or excited, or both, the church will hold an atmosphere that’s special and spiritual, which just can’t be replicated anywhere else.
Then you arrive at the front, your husband-to-be will be waiting for you and you’ll then make unique, timeless and amazing vows in the presence of your family, friends and God.
There’ll be another friendly face too – the vicar. You’ll have spent a lot of time with them beforehand. You’ll have shared your story with them, talked about your hopes for your wedding day, asked them for advice on hymns, readings and prayers. They will have helped you rehearse this moment and reassured you that they’ll do all they can to make things run smoothly, just as you want it to be.
The final unforgettable moment comes soon after this – when together, you walk back down the aisle, newly married and ready to celebrate with all your guests.
“To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish”
“Our advice would be, if you’ve got a dream for your wedding, don’t be afraid to ask the church what you can do. You might be surprised at the answer you get.”
• You can be married in church regardless of whether you’re christened or not, and regardless of whether you regularly go to church or not.
• If either of you are divorced, there may well still be a way forward for having a church wedding –just ask the vicar to talk this through with you and they’ll explain what’s possible.
• If you already have children together, the vicar will make your children welcome too and will suggest ways of involving them on the day.
Just like any other wedding venue, getting married in church is a legal ceremony, so there are a few legal requirements. This applies to your choice of church and you may find that there are lots of beautiful churches where you can legally marry. Visit yourchurchwedding.org/find-a-church for more information.
Within the legal ceremony framework, a Church of England wedding is flexible to accommodate both traditional and unusual tastes. Many couples love the sound of a church organ, hymns and well-loved wedding readings, while others will want to be inventive and may decide they don’t want a ‘white’ wedding.
That is all possible in a church wedding, and the vicar can still help you plan a service with a difference.

Picking the right venue is a huge part of your wedding planning. Six brides tell us how they found their perfect place and why they fell in love with it
Emma Jane Muntz ENCHANTING WOODLAND WEDDINGS, WEST MIDLANDS enchantingwoodland weddings.com

MITTON HALL, LANCASHIRE mittonhallhotel.co.uk
Jo says: “I had heard of Mitton Hall and was excited to go and visit. As soon as we pulled they began to show us around I knew it was the perfect place. We instantly fell in love with the feel of it. The Tudor manor house felt between old and new. The food was amazing friendly, which meant our two dogs could be a big part of the day.”
Emma says: “We loved absolutely everything about our woodland wedding; it suited our style perfectly. We got to spend all day with our friends and family in the woods, it was very unique and all our guests still talk about it now. They really enjoyed being inside the tipi tents,
inside. One thing we loved was that we could include our pets too, our horse and dog are everything to us so it was wonderful to have them involved in our magical day as well. All the decor was woodland related and this gave it a really rustic, relaxed but beautiful vibe. It couldn’t have been more perfect for us.”
Leanne Hall
ISLINGTON TOWN HALL, LONDON sayidoislington.com/ ceremony-venues
Leanne says: “Getting married in London near where we live was really important to us. Our wedding was very informal and low key. Instead of turning it into a huge event or a big traditional country wedding, we wanted something very personal. It felt very special as we had a naming ceremony for
at the same time too, following our vows. All our friends could easily come, jumping on a bus if they wanted to. It was relaxed and very our style. We didn’t want it to be an intense experience with lots of pressure, it was very easy going and relaxed. We went to the nearest pub afterwards with all our guests, which was perfect. Although it was an important day we didn’t feel the need to make a huge personal statement.”
Rebecca Gregory-Kerr ELLENBOROUGH PARK, CHELTENHAM ellenboroughpark.com
Rebecca says: “Initially we were looking for an intimate Cotswolds village hotel. Then we saw
overwhelmed by the impressive architecture and look of the hotel. The style was perfect and exactly what we wanted. The decor was very traditional with high ceilings, bright and airy but also very fresh and modern. It used to be an old school with a chapel, we loved this as it meant we could spend all day
services, which is what we wanted whilst still feeling traditional. The bedrooms we allocated to our guests were also gorgeous. Very luxurious and a real treat, especially for our parents. It was our perfect venue without feeling pretentious or overpriced.”
Kate Arrowsmith CLAVELSHAY BARN, SOMERSET clavelshaybarn.co.uk
Kate says: “I really wanted to have a and we both knew we wanted to get married in Somerset, as that’s where I grew up. We fell in love with Clavelshay Barn as soon as we saw it, the venue was just so pretty. It sits in the most beautiful countryside; the views are stunning. We both wanted a really relaxed wedding, nothing too formal but with great food and drinks. Our main priority was to make sure all our guests had a really good party, for this reason alone Clavelshay ticked all the boxes. As well as being a fabulous location, we were able to put whole place, making it really personal to us. This meant everything, it was exactly as we wanted.”
CARBIS BAY HOTEL, CORNWALL carbisbayhotel.co.uk
Laura says: “I always wanted to get married on the beach but a lot of the places we viewed were either a small beach shack or massively out of our budget. We were amazed to fair price. We instantly fell in love with Carbis Bay Hotel, it felt really it’s right on the beach. We got married at Easter so got a great deal, and the room we chose for our wedding breakfast directly overlooked the beach, which was perfect. We had a bar area with luxury lounge for the after party. As we only had 40 guests the venue was perfect, none of the rooms were too big which meant the atmosphere was great all day.”

Your wedding table decor doesn’t have to be complicated to have impact. Low-key arrangements can look great, especially if you want to create a pretty, rustic vibe. Here the tables are dressed with a simple long run of pastel pink linen, and finished with a mix of vases. Wine bottles have been spray-painted in a golden copper hue and filled with simple stems of waxflower, while short round glass vases hold a variety of white, green and pink stems.
Roll up, roll up for the prettiest pastel-toned show in town. This circus theme is fun and elegant in equal measure, perfect for a sunny spring affair
STYLING: LA FÊTE
Everything about this wedding style is ultra pretty and packed with fun. The table setting comes to life thanks to the variations of colour and mixtures of heights. The eclectic selection of glassware, crockery and candlesticks are puncutated with pops of pink – it's a vintage style with huge appeal. Decorative balloons and birdcages add to this old-fashioned charm, with a selection of real and model animals boosting the circus vibe. The whole look is tied together with the floral selection – astilbe, roses, peonies and crysthanamums annotate the styling.

Perfect for your wedding day,
1 Brush hair, split into sections and curl your hair using straighteners. Change the direction of the curls every so often to keep the hair looking natural. 2 Take a small section from the crown, twist and pin towards the back of your head. Repeat to create four twists that pin at the centre. Pull hair out lightly to soften the curl. Finish with Schwarzkopf Pump hairspray.
3 Take hair from the front and twist the curls away from the face, pulling them each side to pin under the above twists. Use Design ME Puff ME powder to add texture. 4 Beginning behind your right ear, take a section of hair that you can separate into two pieces. You’ll need to create a rope braid by twisting both the pieces individually towards your face. Begin to wrap the two twists in opposite directions around one another, taking the remaining hair into the twist as you work your way around the bottom of your head. Complete the braid by securing it with bobby pins. 5 Take the remaining hair from the left-hand side and repeat the previous step to complete a second rope braid. Lay the braid across the top of the first and pin in place.
6 To add texture and ensure the braid holds use some hairspray before pulling lightly at the hair to soften the style. 7 Personalising the look is easy. Pull out some soft strands from the top of your parting to frame your face and finish with another spritz of hairspray. The elegant up-do is finished. You can stop here or make some changes for the evening...
8 The transformation begins with simple steps, taking the up-do to a half-up/half-down hairstyle. 9 Remove the pins that are holding both rope braids in place. Softly ruffle the curls to separate the braids and loosen the existing style to create a boho themed half up/half down look with loose and textured waves. Complete with a touch of hairspray and you have a hairstyle perfect for your evening celebrations.
Add fresh flowers to your w-day hair for a joyous spring touch; intricate braiding and glossy waves are a dream pairing for the ultra-pretty style that couldn’t be more bridal if it tried. Wear with an off-the-shoulder or strapless dress to avoid your hair and gown competing.

Low maintenance brides, this is your style! Give your blunt bob a glam makeover with lightly tonged waves. Short cuts are the ideal way to showcase unique dress necklines and show-stopping embellishments; pair with pared back make-up to keep the look fresh.

For brides who can’t decide if they want to wear their hair up or down, this laid-back look is perfect. Pin the top section of your hair back with a pretty accessory, and leave the tendrils around your face for a relaxed style – ideal for a boho tipi wedding.

For polished perfection, look no further than a lightly tousled low-bun, complete with sparkling accessories to compete the princess feel. There’s a reason this style is a bridal classic – it’s elegant, timeless and shows off the back detailing on a dress.

This flowing hair style wouldn’t look out of place on a Disney bride and if you’re hoping to create a fairytale fantasy feel on your wedding day, this is the ‘do for you. Similar to the half-up half-down style, but with extra volume at the roots, this style is worthy of royalty.

Awe have an open bar?
You know your crowd better than anyone, so you can make the best judgment call. If they are not big drinkers, then is this the best place for you to invest your budget? Or would you be better spending more on food or entertainment? However, if you and your friends love to indulge in a few tipples, then this is a very generous gesture that they are sure to appreciate. Many people take the route of having welcome drinks and wine at the meal, and then having a paid for bar in the evening. Or you could invest in a selection of wine and beer and have guests pay for anything outside of this.
“We are so grateful that our parents contributed to our wedding. However, they had lists of people that they wanted us to invite. They are not people we are close to and we had to have a few tough conversations about why we only wanted our nearest and dearest there. It was awkward at first, but I’m glad we didn’t invite them. It means we now have memories of just our favourite people."

QIshiringawedding planneragood investment?
AThis totally depends on how much time and
to dedicate to your wedding. If you are time poor, then a professional may be a godsend. Your planner should coordinate the wedding day
logistics: directing suppliers, being on hand to take deliveries and making sure the schedule goes to plan. You could also hire a planner to design your whole day, they can come up with the decor,
help your vision come to life. Who you hire will depend on your available budget.
Questions to ask your boutique BEFORE:
• What designers do you stock?
• What range of sizes and styles do you have?
• Do you have dresses in my price range?
• How many friends can I bring with me?
DURING:
• What shapes and styles would look best on my body type?
• How long after I order my dress will I receive it?
• How easy are alterations on my chosen dress? Can I add sleeves or change the neckline?
• Do you have an in-house or recommended seamstress?
• How many alterations and fitting sessions will I need? And what should I plan and budget for?
• Will I need to pay for the dress all at once, or is there a deposit required?
• What about an instalment payment plan?
