PROTECTOR IMAGES PERSONAL PROTECTION It’s always recommended to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task at hand and follow your employer’s safety policy. Commonly known PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, earplugs, respirators, etc, are recommended as needed. STARTING OUT: DECISIONS
(For in-depth instructions, see Prep Manual) 1 Where will the logo be placed? 2 What shape and size will the logo be? 3 What will the color/design of the logo be? 4 Will the logo be placed over a solid colored or broadcast media background? 5 Will the logo be installed before or after the rest of the floor coating is applied?
LOGO INSTALLATION 1 Lay the logo on the floor in the desired location. 2 Using tape, tape around the edges of the logo creating the exact outline of where the logo will be installed. 3 When logo installation is being done after the rest of the floor coating has been applied, sand the taped off area. 4 Clean the sanded area and let dry. 5 Using protective paper and tape, cover the area immediately surrounding the space where the logo is to be installed. 6 When applying over a solid colored background, apply solid color now and let dry. 7 Center and lay the logo in the designated area. 8 Using small pieces of tape, tack down the logo on the top and bottom approximately half the length of the logo, creating two halves which can be lifted. 9 Lift one half of the logo, apply a thin layer of desired sealer on the floor surface under that half of the logo. 10 Lay logo using a roller with sealer working from the inside out while smoothing out wrinkles & air bubbles leaving a thin coat of sealer under & on top of the logo. 11 Repeat with the second half, remove the small tape pieces which were used for tacking. 12 Allow sealer to dry. 13 Multiple coats of sealer can be applied until desired texture is reached. 14 Remove all protective specialty tape, paper, plastic, etc. 15 Make sure project area is clean, presentable, and free from debris.

TIPS & TRICKS Installing a floor logo can be done before or after the rest of the floor area is coated, it is based on job necessity. - It’s best practice to sand the previous coating where the logo will be applied. - Remember to remove the white backing from the logo before installation. - Unless installing a large logo, little material will be needed. Mix small batches. - Be aware of the recoat windows of products being used. - The first coat of material used to lay the logo in should be applied thin. - If installing the logo prior to application of floor coating, protect the logo from application issues like: bleed, spiking, etc… - When taping designated area and shape of logo, leaving an 1/8” variance is handy. - If necessary, using an iron, iron out the bends in the logo. - If a more vibrant logo color is desired, it’s best to install the logo over a solid-colored background. - Using a plastic putty knife may help in getting rid of air bubbles. - If using fast drying material, watch the edges of the logo for pop-ups and press them down as the material cures out. - YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLjkhC36v1w
