Managing comes easily to Tina Bugg since it’s been her way of life working in her banking career, raising her family and serving her community.

“I’m an organizer and a manager by habit,” said Bugg, the commercial relations manager associate for Trustmark Bank in Corinth.

The mother of two adult children who both work in the medical field – a son in Murphreesboro and a daughter in Tupelo – Bugg also loves spending time when she can with her son’s two boys, her grandsons.

“Being a mother is the best job in the world,” she said.

Bugg said her 37 years working at Trustmark helped her fine-tune her management experiences that came in handy when her children were growing up. “Back in the day, you had to manage it all with your job and family – ball games, Scouts, school and more,” she said. “Those first 17-18 years of your children’s lives are very precious. You need to stay involved.

“Some of my cherished memories are all of us going to church,” said Bugg, who was a volunteer with various church activities that her children joined in. “I have fond memories of youth trips.”

Without her children living in town, Bugg said she makes sure she stays connected with youth in Corinth through a long list of programs like the Boys & Girls Club, Girl Scouts, the Junior Civitans, Reconnect for Autism and more. “I wear many hats,” she said. “I joke that I’m so involved because I have free time.”

Her motherly role in the community also involves working in the nursery at church, Holly Baptist Church. “I love rocking those babies on Sundays.”

“Being in service is a spiritual gift. I try to install in my kids (her own and those she works with) to be a team player,” Bugg said.

As a child, Bugg watched her father play an active role in service to others in Corinth. He was very community-minded,” she said. “My mother was always a supporter of my dad in the community. She’s always been our biggest supporter.”

Bugg said she is blessed to be able to live close to her mother and her brother and his wife so they can spend time together. “You need to make time for family, and don’t take that time for granted. We all get together for Sunday dinners.

“Sunday dinner is very, very precious to me,” she said. “Mother’s Day for us is every Sunday with our Sunday dinner.”

The best advice Bugg has for young mothers today is to make time for family. “You have to get out of the mindset that ‘you have to do’ for your children but that ‘you get to.’ Young mothers need to soak all these times up.”
