Paul E. Durr – Businessman Goes From Military Missiles To Monument & Vault Company By Angela Rogalski In 1994 Durr Monument & Vault was founded. The business is located in Guys, Tenn. and the business is working on its 25th year as an establish business. Paul E. Durr and his wife, the late Sheila Avery Durr (retired teacher of Selmer Middle School ) are owners and proprietors of the business. Durr, “I didn’t always work in the monument and vault business.” According to Durr, he went from a career as an engineer working with military Hawk Missiles to establishing his monument and vault Paul Durr company.
Looking back over his life Durr recalled, “I finished high school in Corinth in 1973.” After that he explained, “I went into the United States Army for three years. The military put me back into school for a year so that I could pursue my passion to study electronic computers. Actually I was a candidate for the Improve Hawk Missile, Redstone Arsenal, in Alabama. I volunteered for the draft for two years. I needed direction for my life after graduation, so I decided to give the United States Army two years of my life, with the intention of going to school while I was there. By Lucy Weber With Easter coming up in April, Lisa Leach expects to be busy in March.
That means creating beautiful and unique Easter bonnets and dresses ordered by mothers who want their little girls to shine on Sunday, April 12. While last Easter, big and bright floral patterns were the rage, Leach said this year she expects to be sewing a lot of pastels this year. There's still time for the Corinth seamstress to create her one-of-a-kind looks, Handmade by Lisa Leach. "Orders can take one to two weeks. I don't mind last minute," she said. Leach's love of sewing began when she was a child. "I learned to sew from both my grandmothers. I'd see them quilting, making aprons," she said. "My mom's mom would stay with us, she put me behind the sewing machine. My mom is also an amazing seamstress." The mother of three boys, now ages 21, 19 and 17, Leach sewed for them when they were growing up "mostly bowties and see LEACH pg 4
