Undergraduate Programs Computer Science: Students develop a thorough grounding in the fundamentals — programming, database management, calculus, software engineering, networks — then go on to study everything from forensic computing and bioinformatics to mobile programming and game design.

Mathematics: Majors use their studies to prepare for careers in business, finance, systems analysis, engineering, statistics, and many other fields. The Mathematics/Adolescence Education program qualifies students for initial certification by New York State to teach mathematics in grades 7 through 12.

business skills. Students specialize in such topics as embedded real-time systems, Internet programming, bioinformatics, database design, and computer game design. In the process, students develop a unique combination of technical proficiency and key workplace skills — leading to productive careers in government and business.

Faculty Through their advanced degrees, scholarship, and industry experience, the faculty in Computer Science and Mathematics bring their students a depth of knowledge in many fields: parallel and distributed computing, database design, compilers, introducing programming into classrooms, discrete dynamical systems, topology, computational biology, and group theory, to name a few.

Internships Many students go on to work full time where they completed their internship. One student completed an internship at RPI working on FIPS (Flexible Integrated Phasor System), an open-source web application that controls power grids. Another student in the

BS/MS program is now working at CommerceHub. Students preparing to be math or technology teachers complete a full semester of student teaching placements in two different settings.

Remarkable Outcomes Graduates have become senior technology officers, edited prestigious journals, led Institutional Review Boards, overseen clinical trials, and held leadership positions in global supply chains, among many other successes. One recent graduate is in her second year at New England Law School and made Law Review, another is working and teaching at RPI, and another is working at Global Foundries.
