Find Your Holiday Style

The art of updating your décor for the holiday entertaining season

By Tara Lindsay, Decorium

The most meaningful part of the entertaining season are the memories that we create. Of course, to set the right tone, we all want our guests to feel comfortable from the minute they walk into our homes. To get you started on making memorable moments, here are some great style tips to create a warm and inviting space that speaks to your personality, while creating a space you’ll be proud to call home.

Festive & Romantic

The Harbour Point Dining Collection features boho-chic styling, with ornate dining chairs that capture the essence of a refined and relaxed dining space. Lighting is key when setting the tone, and a fundamental ingredient to a festive space is an oversized floral arrangement. A single, larger floral display serves as a temporary centerpiece, where smaller displays allow you to play with height and scale. You can add dimension to the table by using platters, tall pitchers, and a variety of candles. For a more festive look, add some greenery to individual place settings.

Quick & Easy

Why not introduce different textures and layer your favourite patterns and tones to add visual interest to the space? Add personality and make a statement the moment your guests enter your home by creating a small vignette that layers colour, texture and patterns. Adding or replacing a mirror is a great way to liven up your front foyer.

Set the Mood

A soft touch in your living space creates an inviting and comfortable ambiance. Starting with a timeless palette allows you to update accent pillows, area rugs, and wall décor on a whim. Updating these pieces will completely change the look of the room. Chic and classic accessories add a nice touch for the entertaining season. A subtle floral arrangement on your coffee table, along with “just enough” accent lighting, such as table lamps, will set the mood in the space. Neutral tones create a serene living environment.

Conversation Pieces

Consider including treasured objects from around the world by combining all the elements you love and clustering them on a credenza. Don’t be afraid of taking risks by updating your artwork for something more vibrant to liven up the space.

Get Organized & Ready

Start by setting your priorities. Check what you have and make a list of what you need. Take an inventory and organize your dishes and utensils to ensure you have enough for all your guests. Decide where your guests will lounge and sleep. Make sure those rooms are cleaned and prepped for your guests. Add a nice bouquet of flowers, such as hydrangeas, to the bedside table and style a small vignette on the dresser. Fresh sheets and a neatly made bed are sure to make an impression.
