LBV hoping to come out of lockdown

The Lilliane Brady Village (LBV) staff, residents and families are hoping to receive the ultimate 40th birthday present this week and be given the “all clear” to come out of lockdown on Friday. A COVID outbreak which affected residents and staff saw the facility go into lockdown at the end of last month in an effort to contain the spread of the virus. A total of 30 residents and 12 staff members contracted COVID and, as of yesterday, there were only two residents who are still recovering from the virus. Cobar Shire Council’s director of finance and community services Kym Miller said he hoped things could return to normal this week. “Fingers crossed there will be no further cases detected and affected residents will no longer have to be confined to their rooms.” All other residents have been allowed to leave their rooms and have been able to take their meals in the dining room as well as take part in group activities. “We’re hoping we can once again welcome back family and visitors to the Village to see their loved ones,” Mr Miller told The Cobar Weekly. It’s hoped visitors will be re-admitted from this Friday. They will however need to provide: proof of vaccination, a negative rat test, will need to wear a mask, practice social distancing, and only meet in a resident’s room or in open areas such as the courtyard.
