There were plenty of colourful and imaginative Christmas displays for this year’s Cobar Weekly Christmas Cheer competition sponsored by Aurelia Metals/Peak Gold Mines and Cobar Powerhouse. The judges gave $100 Cobar Quids encouragement awards to the Tranter’s music activated display in Morrison Street and the Curtis family’s “Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal” entry in Jones Drive. Leanne and Wayne Mackay’s “lights everywhere” display in Echidna Avenue took out first prize of $500 Cobar Quids just two points ahead of the Lawrence’s “Christmas characters” lay out in Louth Road. The Lawrences collected $350 for second prize. Third prize of $200 went to Talitha Raines’ “everything gold Christmas inside and out” display in Becker Street. The winners are pictured above collecting their Cobar Quids from Laura Newton, representing major sponsor Aurelia Metals/Peak Gold Mines, on Monday.
